A woman in Hangzhou, China, survived a brutal knife attack by a stranger who stabbed her more than 20 times.
Her breast implants blocked what could have been a fatal blow.

Shopping Trip Turns Into Nightmare
The victim, identified as Ms Ma (name transliterated from Mandarin), was shopping at MixC mall in Hangzhou on 22 May 2025. When she entered the underground car park to leave, a stranger approached her with a knife.

The man forced his way into the passenger seat of her car. He closed the door and used the seatbelt to restrain her. He then demanded that she pay for parking and drive the car out of the mall.
While the attacker was distracted, Ms Ma managed to send a distress message to her boyfriend on her phone. Her boyfriend received the message, tracked her phone location using his home computer, and immediately called the police.
Attack Unfolds on Isolated Road
The attacker forced Ms Ma to drive to a remote road. He threatened her and demanded that she contact friends to borrow money.
When police arrived and approached the man to question him, he suddenly lost control and attacked Ms Ma with the knife multiple times.
After the assault, the man turned the knife on himself. He died despite medical efforts to save him. Ms Ma has since recovered from life-threatening injuries and the case is now closed.
Implants Block Fatal Blow
Ms Ma said, “We counted about 20 stab wounds. Luckily, I had breast augmentation surgery before. The implants blocked what could have been a fatal strike. Only one knife wound reached my lung.”
Remarkably, cases of breast implants providing unexpected protection during violent incidents have been documented before.
A 2020 study published in the journal SAGE Open Medical Case Reports described similar instances where silicone breast implants absorbed the force of knife or gunshot wounds, reducing injury severity.

While implants are not designed for this purpose, trauma surgeons have noted that their presence can sometimes deflect or slow penetrating objects, offering a rare but real layer of protection in life-threatening situations.
