Here is what you need to know about the new MRT station.
New Brickland Station to Open on NSL in 2034
Back in 2019, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) released the Land Transport Master Plan (LTMP) 2040 report. The LTMP revealed that two new MRT stations will be opened on NSL by the mid-2030s.
One of these stations was none other than the Brickland station, which is set to open in 2034.
Here is what the station may look like.
This week, the LTA announced that the design and construction of the Brickland station is expected to start by next year.
Brickland Station is the third MRT station to be built on an existing elevated rail line after Canberra (NSL) and Dover (East-West Line).
For those who are unfamiliar with the NSL, Brickland station will be between Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Gombak stations, towards the west part of the island.
Brickland station is intended to “give residents in areas such as Keat Hong, Bukit Batok West, Pavillion Park and the Brickland district in Tengah town easier access to the rail network”.

Locals living in the station area are expected to walk only about 10 minutes to the new station.
This will benefit the “existing educational institutions in the vicinity, such as ITE College West, Swiss Cottage Secondary School and St. Anthony’s Primary School by providing more direct access to the rail network”.
We can’t wait for better connectivity across our tiny island, even if it will only be completed more than a decade from now.
Travelling Time From Bukit Batok to Raffles Place Will Be Cut
With the introduction of Brickland station, commuters living in the area can expect more significant time savings when travelling to the central business district (CBD) area.
In particular, those who travel from Bukit Batok West Avenue 5 to the Jurong Lake District or Woodlands Regional Centre could save up to 15 minutes on their train ride.

Commuters who depart from Pavilion Estate in Bukit Batok to Raffles Place via public transport save around 10 minutes. This cuts short the time spent on public transport to about 40 minutes.
You can refer to the table below for the examples of time savings once Brickland station is built.
