McDonald’s Having Brown Sugar Milk Tea Sundae & McFlurry

If you’ve been stuffing your face with McDonald’s Hainanese Chicken Burger ever since it came out, you’re not alone.

A recent made-up survey by the Goody Feed team found that 96.3% of residents in Singapore have tried the burger at least five times, with the other 3.7% saying they’re “trying to live a healthy lifestyle, so stop bothering me”, whatever that means.

But as good as savoury food items are, they are nothing without a sweet companion.

That’s why your mouth will be thrilled with what I’m about to tell you, as long as you can put that burger down to read on.

McDonald’s Having Brown Sugar Milk Tea Sundae & McFlurry

Yes. It’s here.

The very thing that elevates bubble tea to the pinnacle of mouth pleasure. The very thing we’ve been stuffing our kuehs with for decades. The thing our bodies crave at 3am in the morning when we’ve emptied the fridge of all its contents.

Yes, brown sugar has come to McDonald’s.

McDonald’s Singapore has ditched its Lotus Biscoff McFlurry for something even more decadent: brown sugar milk tea ice cream.

Customers with a sweet tooth will be able to taste this delight in three menu items:

  1. Soft serve in a cone (from $1)
  2. With a hot fudge sundae (from $2)
  3. In a McFlurry (from $3)

That’s right, because brown sugar milk tea ice cream isn’t indulgent enough, you can get it topped with either some hot fudge or with Oreo pieces.

The new soft serve is now available at all McDonald’s dessert kiosks, so head to the outlet to try one now!

Why Does Brown Sugar Taste Better?

Ever wondered why brown sugar tastes better?

Well, according to Healthlinethe two have very different flavour profiles, meaning they’re used in different ways when baking.

White sugar, while sweeter, has more of a neutral flavour, making it a versatile ingredient in baking. Its flavour doesn’t stand out on its own, however.

On the other hand, brown sugar has a “deep, caramel or toffee-like flavour” due to the added molasses.

See, both white and brown sugar come from the same crops, but one becomes brown as it’s mixed with molasses.

As you would have guessed, neither is a great source of minerals or vitamins, but brown sugar contains slightly fewer calories than its white counterpart.
