Too hot to go to the beach?
How about this: an indoor beach, right in the middle of Singapore (and beside an MRT station as well)?
From now till 30 June, Bugis Junction is turning into an indoor beach for your beach getaways this holiday.
Aloha Beaches Bazaar
If you visit Bugis Junction very often, you’ll know that there’s a fountain area in the heart of Bugis.
But now, instead of a fountain, you’ll be able to see a neon beach paradise set-up, with lighted pastel trees and sand.
Real sand.
There’s also a bazaar there that sells ribeye beef cubes and tropical butterfly pea mojitos.
If that doesn’t entice you, here is something that might.
Besides the entire beach set-up and food bazaar, you can also watch Marvel and DC movies for free if you spend $5 at any bazaar stall.
Pastel set-up and live music
The organisers truly did everything they could to enhance a visitor’s experience here.
They basically recreated different elements of a beach and made a Summer Lounge. This lounge is also filled with sand, to further enhance your experience.
Sounds pretty cool, if you ask me. A little messy though.
The Summer Lounge is decorated with pretty life-sized pastel trees, and tables and chairs for visitors to relax and have their food at.
If you want a better experience of the pastel trees, coming at night is recommended. Not only would they look nicer, but you’ll be able to see the lighting set-up that the trees have to make them neon and bright.
If you love live music, you can visit on the weekends. On the weekends, there will be live performances of local homegrown musicians. Here’s to supporting our local talents.
Food Bazaar
The food bazaar also has an amazing lineup of food and beverages. Here are some recommendations to try out when you’re there.
A recommended menu item would be The Cheesy Chick. It’s a smoked chicken sausage with homemade smokey ketchup and mayo, with melted cheese, chicken floss and spring onions packed into a lightly grilled bun.
Sounds so good already.
If you’re someone who likes experimenting with flavours, you can customise your own roll at Rollet. Each roll starts off with a Rollet base (Nyonya, Chicken or Chocolatey Banana). After that, you can choose from an array of toppings before opting to deep fry or oven-bake it.
If you love beef, this one is definitely for you. Order their Yakiniku Ribeye Beef and indulge yourself in ribeye beef cubes marinated with a special Japanese garlic soy sauce. How can you resist that?
Movie Passes
The movie line-up is amazing. With films like Avengers (2012), to Iron-man, and even family-friendly films like Beauty and the Beast, it should not be missed.
The venue for the screenings is really cute too. They’ve made a beach set-up with beach chairs (though it’s not air-conditioned lah).
Movie passes are available on a first-come-first-serve basis, though. You just need to spend $5 in a single receipt at any food and retail stalls at the bazaar or summer lounge. Movie passes can also be redeemed with 2,000 STAR$® via the CapitaStar app.
