Man Cheats Bukit Batok Cashier Into Giving Him More Change With Sleight of Hand Tricks; Store Warns Others to Be Alert

For ages, the classy sleight of hand tricks have graced the silver screen, appeasing our eyes with their deftness and sheer execution.

It appears that their popularity has since extended beyond the 2D screen. Though unlike reel life…

Sleight of hand tricks may actually come across as a tad bit distasteful.. depending on how they are utilised.

Man Cheats Bukit Batok Cashier Into Giving Him More Change With Sleight of Hand Tricks; Store Warns Others to Be Alert

It appears that the God of Gamblers has made his return.

Though this time, he seems to be keener on tricking cashiers than competitors at a casino table.

On 10 March 2021, videos of a man’s ploy to gain some extra cash surfaced in the Complaint Singapore Facebook group.

Apparently, he had employed a state-of-the-art sleight of hand trick to trick the cashier at a Bukit Batok store into giving him more money.

Unfortunately, however, it was not state-of-the-art enough to escape the scrutiny of CCTV cameras.

According to footage from the surveillance device, the man could be seen purchasing a pack of cigarettes.

He proceeds to strikes up a chat with the cashier, as the latter issues him the required change.

After the money has exchanged hands, the man continues the conversation and seizes the opportunity to slip a $10 note into his pocket.

He then walks off, leaving his newly-bought pack on the table.

Noticing this, the cashier calls out to him, which prompts the man to proceed to the next stage of his ploy.

Returning to the counter, he counts the change in his possession and appears to indicate that he had not received the right amount back.

Perplexed, the cashier checks the cash in the man’s hand and issues an extra $10.

Again, the man walks off, but this time in an entirely new direction.

He also seems to exude an aura akin to Chow Yun Fatt’s, though this could just be my supernatural sense tingling.

One thing’s clear, however.

His ploy worked.

Second Time

According to the Facebook post, the unofficial God of Gamblers had employed the trick at the same store twice in this month alone.

The first time, he was allegedly wearing a hat, which concealed his identity from being revealed.

In sharing the footage, the poster hoped to warn everyone about him.

“Cheating over the counter at a shop in Bukit Batok,” the caption wrote.

“Twice in a month. This time the face is clear. Everyone beware.”

Ruffled A Few Feathers

The post has since garnered over 400 shares to date, as well as 186 likes & reactions.

Netizens have also been largely critical of the man’s act.

Some, however, did take the pandemic situation into account, but even then they did not feel that it validated the man’s act.

It should be noted that several have also questioned the man’s card-hiding abilities.

But as they say, even the God of Gamblers is vulnerable to age and time.

Let’s just hope that there will be no further sleigh of hand tricks at retail stores.
