One very special day is about to happen in the midst of the Chinese New Year.

And I’m talking about Valentines’ Day.

While we previously talked about some places to have your V-day celebratory meals at, today we bring you a place you can simply just hang out at.

Which is both free to go to and beautiful.

Bukit Panjang Pond Lighted Up With CNY Lights is The Perfect Place To Stroll For V-Day

Well, unless you want to count your public transport fare, but it’s going to be worth the trip anyway.

The Pang Sua Pond at Bukit Panjang is normally a pretty nice place to take a walk at on its own.

And, for those unaware, it is also the second-largest man-made floating wetland system in the country.

With the lush greenery and reflective waters, it makes for a relaxing place to visit.

But this CNY, the place has gotten a massive makeover.

The area is now lined with dozens of lights and lanterns, brightening up the area in the joyous celebration of the season.

A YouTube video shows the viewer the extent of the decorations, from the start of the pond all the way to the boardwalk and pavilion.

I’m sure whoever you go with, you can take your time to stroll through the newly illuminated pond to snap a couple of pictures.

Or couple-pictures, if you’re there with your partner.

Visit From Foreign Affairs Minister

And it’s not just families and couples enjoying the view.

Our Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan also came to take in the sights, uploading pictures to Facebook.

He comments that while we cannot celebrate CNY this year like previous ones, we should still treasure moments with family and friends.

“Please share your photos of your favourite spots at our beautiful pond.”

Getting to Pang Sua Pond is relatively simple as well.

If you’re taking the MRT, take the Downtown Line to Bukit Panjang MRT. From there, you can follow this route for a roughly 10-minute walk to the pond.

Alternatively, buses like 184, 187 and 190 will stop you opposite Lompang Road, with the pond just around the area.

The best part? Since it’s an open public space and going to be open all day, you can just head down whenever you want.

Though if you really want to get the full vibe and romantic mood, we still suggest going at night.
