With Netflix featuring dramas that contain explicit scenes, watching it in public transport has almost become a risky endeavor.
However, one individual seemed to have missed the memo; he might not even have been watching Netflix.
Here’s what transpired on a bus in Yio Chu Kang on a recent Saturday night.
A Touchy Bus Stop Encounter
As the clock struck eleven on 2 September, 2023, an unusual scene unfolded at a bus stop at Yio Chu Kang.
A couple, seemingly in their prime, found themselves embroiled in a confrontation with an older man.
The man, who appeared to be in his sixties, was allegedly viewing explicit content on his mobile phone while on the bus, a sight that did not sit well with the couple.
Was it Netflix or pornography? We may never know.
As the tension escalated, the bus driver was alerted to the unfolding drama. He brought the vehicle to a halt, prepared to dial the authorities to intervene in the matter.
Eyewitness Account: A Tale with a Twist
Mr Dou, an employee at a nearby mobile phone store, became an unexpected witness to this unfolding drama.
In an interview with Shin Min Daily News, he recounted, “I was busy attending to customers when suddenly I noticed a double-decker bus stopping abruptly at the bus stop. Shortly after, the police arrived and the bus driver was seen making a phone call outside the bus.”
As the story unfolded, it was revealed that the man had not only been viewing explicit content but had also harassed the couple, leading to a heated confrontation.
The exact nature of the man’s actions remains unclear.
“The couple informed the bus driver about the man’s actions, prompting him to stop the bus immediately and call the police,” Mr Dou added.
He mentioned that he saw the man sitting inside the bus while a police officer questioned him.
Meanwhile, the couple stood outside, engaged in a conversation with another officer. Due to the ongoing investigation, many passengers had to disembark, presumably to catch another bus or hail a taxi to reach their destinations.
“With the bus halted for over three hours, even after we closed the shop, it was still there. We have no idea what transpired afterwards,” Mr Dou said, adding a touch of mystery to the already intriguing tale.
The Singapore Police Force, when contacted, confirmed the arrest of a 65-year-old man for public nuisance, with investigations currently underway.
Yet the question remains unanswered: was it a scene from House of Cards, or pornography?
