Cafe in Orchard Has IG-Worthy ‘Drinks’ That Defy Gavity & Will Prank Your Friends For You

Warning: the title isn’t quite honest.

But it’s not the gravity-defying part that is misleading.

Take a look.

And nothing quite captures the non-spillability of these drinks like a glorious motion picture.

What’s This?

Evidently, from the pictures and videos, these are drinks that seem to cling to the cup and hold their shape, even when they’re tilted.

There is a whole line of these, as the cafe calls them, inverted or upside down beverages, from the regular cafe teas and coffees to bubble tea.

Basically, they’re unpourable, unspillable…

And Undrinkable

What was going through your mind when you saw those videos?

From the way the contents of the cup moved (as it inched its way to the rim), I suspected gelatin’s involvement.

Then I was intrigued by how they still managed to maintain this beverage’s status as a beverage, aka a liquid when you’re not trying to pour it on the table/ the floor/ your friends/ yourself. It was clearly non-Newtonian but in such an unconventional way.

If that was also your thought process, you may be a little disappointed to know this is no scientific miracle because this isn’t a drink at all.

It’s pudding. Pudding made to look like drinks just to deceive you and all your gullible Instagram followers.

But, hey, it’s still edible. So food for your IG-story, then your tummy. But that’s not all.

Prank Your Friends

Clickbait in real life are called tricks or pranks, which actually makes it acceptable again.

(But by that logic, this article is on the net so it’s still clickbait, which penalises us while they keep getting all the praise. Damnit.)

Anyway, the cafe actually encourages you to prank your friends. All you need to do is call them or DM them on Instagram when you make your reservation so you can get the staff in on it.

They’ll help you splash your orders on your unsuspecting companion.

They’re Not Just About IG-Worthy Drinks

Okay, to be fair, they’re not just about pranks.

They do serve food that makes Singaporeans go crazy over them too.

Something like this.

Maggi Goreng. In Bread. Carbohydrates on carbohydrates. What’s better than that?

Unless it’s yet another prank by the cafe, then I’m going to ask you guys to boycott the place.

No one messes with the Maggi. No. One.
