Anyone who has visited the polyclinic to ‘keng’ an MC or two would know that one would need to know the specific symptoms to tell the doctor, put on an expression of pure suffering, and even react to non-existent pains when prodded in the right places.

To pull off an elaborate ‘accident victim scheme’, I believe planning, acting, effort, talent, research, and even some sacrifice are needed.

Without them, scams simply become cringe-worthy theatrics or a side-hugging joke. In this case, it is both.

‘Car accident scams’ usually involve the scammer going up to a vehicle, throwing himself or herself against the bonnet, before claiming injury and demanding compensation for being a victim of an accident.

This was one reason why drivers are urged to have a car camera in their own vehicles because such scams were witnessed here in Singapore as well.

This particular car scammer

This one, in particular, drew “attention” because of the scammer’s terrible acting skills.

The video, uploaded on Facebook on 10 August, showed a woman lying prone on the bonnet of a black car.

Sensing that her scam failed, she got off the bonnet and immediately threw herself on a yellow car that happened to pass by.

Despite the fact that passersby caught on to her trick, she remained motionless in front of the car even after the driver alighted to check on her.

According to the video’s caption, she was not offered help due to her terrible acting skills.
