A dashcam recording captured the entire event. In the footage, a dark grey sedan was parked on the road with both driver and passenger doors open.

Three people stood around the vehicle – one by each open door, and a third woman in a light blue shirt standing behind the car.

The man standing at the driver’s door had just placed his left foot inside the vehicle when the car suddenly lurched forward. He was dragged along as the car crashed into the school building’s outer wall within five seconds.

The woman in the blue shirt was visibly shocked, clutching her head before rushing toward the crash site. Nearby members of the public were also startled by the sudden incident.

Police Investigation

Police told Shin Min Daily News that preliminary investigations showed the car was initially driven by the elderly man’s daughter. The accident occurred when they were switching drivers, with the 76-year-old man preparing to take over.

When reporters visited the scene on Saturday evening, the car remained parked on the walkway near the school gate with its trunk open. A police officer was standing guard outside the cordoned area.

A police spokesperson revealed that the elderly man was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in an unconscious state. Three other people sustained minor injuries but refused to be taken to the hospital.
