Another Car Smeared With “Poop”; 52YO Man Arrested for Public Nuisance

Serial Faecal Vandalism Strikes Aljunied and Crawford Lane Targeting ‘Tan

While some choose to resolve disputes with violent methods like slashing with a chopper, others opt for more unorthodox revenge tactics, such as smearing faeces on the adversary’s car.

On 19 Nov, a car parked at Blk 49 Sims Place in Aljunied was found covered in faeces.

The vehicle was stained with fecal matter on its front and rear windshields, windows, and door handles, emitting a nauseating stench.

The car’s hood was adorned with a traditional Chinese “fa gao” cake, usually used as an offering to the dead, a flower, and an orange tied with a red string, which also had two incense sticks inserted.

The whole faecal set-up resembled a ritual offering.

A foam board was also placed on the windshield, bearing a person’s name and the phrase in Chinese “若要人不知,除非己莫为” (If you don’t want others to know, don’t do it).

Made Another Car Cover in Poop; Still Looking for “Tan”

A month later, on 20 Dec another Toyota was discovered smeared with faeces in a Crawford Lane carpark.

The faeces were spread all over the car’s front window, some even dripping down the passenger side’s window. Ew.

This time, a large piece of cardboard and an empty drink cup were placed on top of the car.

The setup bore a striking similarity to the previous incident.

Interestingly, the perpetrator in the Aljunied case had also left a note for a person with the surname “Tan,” signing off with the name “坤” (Kun). However, this time, the “artist” was caught on camera.

The video footage showed a man casually exacting his revenge on the supposed “Tan”, accompanied by choice expletives and a message stating that the owner had messed up his whole family.

It’s unclear if it’s the same individual behind both incidents.

Might Have Found A Second Car Due To His First Mistake

However, it seems “Tan” may have made a mistake initially, prompting a repeat of this unsavory act.

In the first incident, the car owner, Ms Wang (60 years old, a chicken vendor), was at the market when she was suddenly informed by a seafood stall worker, Mr Guo, about the condition of her car.

Shocked and angry upon seeing her defaced car, Ms Wang immediately called the police for help, then returned to attend to her customers.

It was only in the afternoon, after the market crowd dispersed and she had closed her stall, that she could bear the stench to clean her car.

Despite her efforts, she still had to take the car to a professional car wash for thorough cleaning.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the 52-year-old man responsible for the incident in Aljunied was arrested for public nuisance.

He came forward to apologise on 21 Nov.

If “Tan” turns out to be the wrong target again, it’s possible we might witness yet another appearance of this unconventional revenge-seeker.

Except that now we already know how he looks like.
