Ever since ride hailing apps became a thing in Singapore, it seems like we’ve become very reliant on them.
From waking up late to arriving at your destination early, ride hailing apps save us a lot of time and energy at a fraction of the cost of owning a car.
But, this does not mean that there are no problems when you use such ride hailing apps.
One woman took to TikTok to complain about the terrible experience she had when taking Ryde.
Here is more about what she said.
Woman Recounts Poor Journey With Ryde Driver
Earlier this week, a woman took to TikTok, the popular social media site, to share about her bad experience taking a ride on Ryde.
Going by the moniker of @oh.bellyflebby, the woman explained that her experience was so bad that the next rider who picked her up was “shocked” at what she experienced.

@oh.bellyflebbynext driver that picked me up was shocked cos he told me it’s lawfully illegal for drivers to chase their passengers out of the car after they accepted the ride
She Said Driver Did Not Arrive at the Correct Location
One of the complaints by the woman is that the driver did not pick her up at the correct location.
The woman said she was at one of the PLQ malls, which, based on her experience, had a confusing pickup point layout, so drivers are often confused.
That’s why the woman told the driver where she was so he would not get lost.
However, it appears the driver just told her he would follow the GPS.
Unfortunately, more friction arose between the two when the driver marked himself as “arrived” when the woman did not see him.
She said that he was at a different location from where she was, based on the map on the app.
The Driver Was Also Allegedly Rude to Her and Another Passenger
Eventually, the woman and the rider met, and she boarded his car.
However, things were already tense by then since the driver had told the woman over text not to act like he was their “personal driver”.
The woman also said that the driver almost “shouted” at her to put on her seatbelt when she boarded the car.
This led the woman to feel unhappy about the driver’s service and attitude.
The driver was apparently in such a bad mood that he also shouted at the second passenger he picked up (as this was a shared ride).
In the TikTok, the woman recounted that the second passenger was also taken aback at the driver’s brash attitude.
The woman eventually told the driver off and asked him to speak nicely to them.
The Driver Eventually Kicked the Woman Out of the Car
It then appeared that the confrontation was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
The driver told the woman to get out of his car, stopping in the middle of nowhere with the “cars piling up behind them”.
The woman left the car eventually but told the driver to cancel the ride on his end as her last act of defiance.
According to the woman, what the driver did was “illegal”, as drivers are not allowed to chase passengers out of the car after the ride is accepted.
Some Netizens Are Siding With the Driver Despite the Woman’s Complaints
While this seems like a far-fetched story, some netizens are siding with the driver.
They pointed out that the woman was at fault for setting the wrong pick-up point.
Others said the woman was being “cheap” and should not be complaining about the ride on social media when she was at fault.
