Carrie Wong Apologised to Lawrence Wong for Leaked DMs That Criticised Him

Oh wells, for those who’ve not raised your hands, you’re one heck of a good liar.

We’ve all done it; whether it’s just to let off steam or merely to prove a point. It’s normal and healthy.

But if you’re a celebrity?

You either ensure that your private conversation doesn’t fall into public domain, or you don’t “say one thing publicly and say another thing privately”, if not you’ll have to face what Carrie Wong is facing now.

Leaked Instagram DMs with Ian Fang

Lest you’re not aware, the biggest news yesterday was the leaked Instagram DMs between Carrie Wong and Ian Fang. They’re explicit texts that suggest a physical relationship – nothing wrong except for the fact that Carrie Wong is attached.

However, beneath the M18 texts lies another conversation that’s sparked another controversy.

Before anything, you’ll have to meet Lawrence Wong.

No, not our Minister for National Development.

Another Lawrence.

Lawrence Wong: Yanxi Palace Actor

If you’re one of the many who’s watched Yanxi Palace, you’d know Lawrence Wong, who played Hai Lan Cha, an imperial guard.

Prior to attaining a superstar status in China with the breakthrough role, Lawrence Wong, who was born and raised in JB, started his acting career with Channel U in a drama called The Promise. He was so popular, he even got nominated for Favourite Male Character at the Star Awards 2010.

But the 36-year-old, who’s allegedly now a Singapore citizen, set his sights overseas and signed on with a Chinese management company in 2016. The company is run by Chinese actress Qin Lan, who had a role in Yanxi Palace, so it’s not a surprise to see him in the drama.

Over in China, he had only filmed two dramas but have become a sensation there: before Yanxi Palace, he received about 10 fan mails a day. Now, he’s receiving a whopping 5,000 fan mails a day, and has well over 2 million followers in Weibo.

So What’s with Lawrence Wong?

The late Aloysius Pang was due to start filming for a new Channel 8 drama, My One In A Million, after Chinese New Year this year, alongside with his onscreen partner Carrie Wong and James Seah.

It was supposed to be his first lead role in a Channel 8 drama.

When he was hospitalised, Mediacorp has already decided to recast the role as it was projected that Aloysius would take a long time to recover. Unfortunately, he passed away soon after.

Mediacorp then knocked on Lawrence’s door, whose schedule in China apparent conflicts with My One In A Million. After discussion and some compromise, Lawrence agreed to take on the role to “add oil” to the local scene.

He’s already expected people to hate on him, but added, “But to me, somebody’s gotta do it. And as long as I do my best and give my best, that’s all that matters.”

Okay…so?

What has Carrie Wong got to do with this?

In My One In a Million, Carrie Wong plays a matchmaker with a power to make love connections between people, while Lawrence Wong plays a TV producer.

In the lensing ceremony (which is to signify the commencement of production) for the drama, both of them, together with other celebrities, held a mini press conference.

Apparently, Carrie knew Lawrence from another drama, 118, but didn’t have scenes together, so you can say that they’re “hi-bye” friends.

Now, here’s the thing; she said this to 8 Days: “And… I’m very excited. I can’t believe that [I’m working with Lawrence]. I watched Yanxi Palace. (Laughs) I’m a big fan of his!”

However, when the reporter asked if they hang out together after filming, she gave a short answer: “Nah.”

Which now leads to the meat of this story.

Leaked IG DMs Include Carrie’s “Dislike” for Lawrence

Other than the M18 messages which I’m sure people below 18 have read, the leaked Instagram DMs comprise another conversation that’s just as juicy.

So, long story cut short, she wasn’t happy that Lawrence took the role, and Ian implied that Lawrence depends on connections, looks and luck.

Carrie Wong Has Apologised

According to Shin Min Daily News, here’s the shocking fact: Lawrence apparently knew about the comments last Thursday.

I’m not sure if an imperial guard can time travel, but my question is this: how can anyone know about this private conversation…before it was leaked?

Anyways, it’s also reported that Carrie had apologised to him yesterday, adding, “She was very calm when she apologised and I am grateful that she has been gracious in her apology…It’s understandable and I won’t hold a grudge. All that matters is that everyone is focused on completing the show.”

I don’t know about you, but this latest revelation has made me even more curious about who’s leaked the DMs.

Maybe…it was one of them?
