Some days they seem like the most wonderful creatures in the world, and the next day you’re 100% sure they’re plotting your death.

They also have a rather funny way of displaying affection.

Why cuddle with your owners and headbutt them when you can bring them two live hamsters from an unspecified location?

Cat Brought Back 2 Hamsters to Owner as a Gift & Now Owner is Looking for Hamsters’ Owner

A woman has taken to Facebook to seek help for a rather odd problem.

In a post on 11 Oct, the woman claimed that her cat brought home a little grey hamster.

Worried about the hamster’s owner, the woman shared a post on Facebook with pictures of the little creature and pasted posters all over her block in Chai Chee as well, according to MS News.

But just a day later, her cat, whom she calls Meow Meow, brought home another hamster of a similar colour.

“If anyone is missing this hamster in Chai Chee area, please contact me. Please help to share this if you know if anyone who lives in this vicinity!” the woman said.

“Halp,” she jokingly said at the end of the post.

Cat Has Brought Back Other Creatures Before

Speaking to MS News, the woman said Meow Meow has brought back other creatures before, including dead lizards and birds.

The difference, however, is that there were dead.

Despite bringing both hamsters back alive, the woman is keeping them away from Meow Meow as she still sees the hamsters as prey.

Fortunately, both hamsters are doing well, and the woman is ensuring that they are fed and taken care of.

Showing Gratitude for Adoption?

The woman said she came across Meow Meow in 2017  when she started sleeping on the doormat outside her flat.

The cat was injured, likely from fights with other felines, and so the family took her in out of pity.

She started coming back to the flat regularly and decided one day that it was her new home

And when a cat decides something, you can’t really say no.

Now, she’s part of the family, and may be bringing back these “gifts” as a way to express gratitude for taking her in.

Why Dead (or Live) Animals as a Gift?

But why do cats do this? Why do they bring live or dead animals to their owners as a gift?

Well, firstly, most of them don’t have jobs, and cannot afford to buy a toaster on Lazada for you.

Secondly, we’re in the midst of a pandemic, and times are tough.

But the real reason is that they consider you a part of their family.

According to The Spruce Pets, cats are pack animals, and they often want to share their bounty with their family. This is especially true of mothers who want to teach their young how to hunt and eat.

So when a cat brings back a dead or live animal, don’t chide them for it. It’s just their very strange and slightly unsettling way of showing you some love.
