Caught Dancing Ridiculously On The Streets, This Man’s Solution To Stop Any Videos From Going Online Is Equally Silly

With how advanced technology is these days, almost everyone owns a mobile phone and the Internet is at the tips of our fingers. We are also becoming more cautious about our every action in public. One wrong move and we’ll find ourselves on the Internet, attracting people of all ages, ready to voice their opinions and comments. As Singaporeans, we can all relate because STOMP. “Don’t PDA ah! Later kena stomp.” or “Sigh, better give up the seat. Later people stomp me.” It certainly has made an impact in our lives.

While we try to avoid being in the unneeded spotlight of STOMP, sometimes we can’t help it but live life freely. In one such case, a middle-aged man, Liu,  in China decided to let loose and have fun on the streets but his self-esteem came crashing down after he discovered that the crowd that formed around the area was people laughing at and snapping pictures of him.

He couldn’t take the embarrassment and decided to break the Internet before the Internet broke him. It was back in June in Weifang, Shandong Province when he had stopped by a community square and thought that it would be fun to join some aunties for a session of public dancing. He was relatively new to the city and was horrified later on, that the people at the sidelines were making fun of him instead.

Ashamed and terribly broken, he decided a few weeks later, to destroy any videos and pictures of himself from being on the Internet. His solution to that problem? He proceeded to break into 4 China Telecom service boxes and pulling apart all the wires and plugs inside Hulk-style.

Soon, China Telecom received many reports and complaints about the lack of Internet service in that area. They found the source that caused the problem and got the police to check on the CCTV before they found Liu hanging around the scene of the crime after midnight. During the investigation, Liu confessed to the crime stating that he was trying to make sure that some incriminating photos never make their way to the Internet.

He was then later arrested and charged with the crime while the damage that he caused was estimated to be around $100,000 yuan.

While no embarrassing photos or videos of Liu dancing has surfaced, it’s sad that what was once acceptable when we were kids is now frowned upon and deemed as a nuisance.
