People all over the world are scrambling to buy and wear masks and even in Singapore are extremely hard to get a hold of.
Lest you’re unaware, a certain celebrity couple had good intentions and wanted to help out in some way. That celebrity couple is none other than Huang Xiaoming and Angelababy.
Out of goodwill, they decided to donate 200,000 yuan (~S$39,100) to purchase masks for healthcare workers in Wuhan.
The donation was made to the China Siyuan Project Poverty Alleviation Foundation.
Sounds good, doesn’t it? It must’ve been a great sacrifice.. right?
Well.. apparently netizens are still not happy.
Celebrity Couple Topped Up Donation to Fight Wuhan Virus After First Donation Was Considered ‘Low’ by Netizens
Other celebrities such as Hong Kong actor Louis Koo donated a whopping SGD$2 million to the Wuhan Benevolent General Association for the purchase of medical resources.
Apparently, $39k doesn’t seem like a lot of money to a lot of netizens in comparison.

The celebrity couple drew flak for donating a “mere 200,000 yuan” after the Siyaun Poverty Alleviation Fund revealed their donation on Weibo.
At least one comment wrote, “they could spend 200 million yuan for their wedding. Yet, when the country is facing a crisis, they donated only 200,000.”
It seems that the celebrity couple has heard the public’s cry of outrage and have since made some amendments to their original donation plans.
On Sunday, the Siyaun Poverty Alleviation Fund announced that Huang and Angelababy have upped their ante and will be donating another 800,000 yuan on top of their original donation of 200,000 yuan.
This makes the donation a total of around SGD$197,000.
