A Cement-tal Affair: MP Takes Action After Car Splattered in Cement by Cement Mixer
On a fateful Saturday (26 Aug), Mountbatten Member of Parliament (MP) Lim Biow Chuan took to Facebook to share a rather sticky situation encountered by a resident in his constituency. In a bizarre turn of events, a car was completely splattered with cement, windscreen included, as a cement mixer drove past.
The driver, clearly distressed by the cement shower had to stop her car.
Mr Lim has committed to requesting the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to increase enforcement actions against cement trucks.
A Concrete Problem
In a detailed account of the incident in the comment section of the post, the driver recalled the ordeal, which occurred at approximately 11:20am on that Saturday morning.
She was driving along Crescent Road, a two-way residential estate road off Mountbatten Road, when she crossed paths with a cement mixer.
As the large vehicle zoomed by her car, cement splashed onto her vehicle, obscuring her windscreen and severely reducing her visibility.
Left with no other option, the driver had to carefully and slowly navigate her way home, a journey that took a “painful” 10 minutes despite the peril of driving with limited visibility. To add insult to injury, some of the cement that “decorated” her car hardened and couldn’t be removed, leaving a permanent stain on her vehicle.
In the aftermath of the incident, the driver called on the LTA to ramp up efforts to track down irresponsible drivers and contractors.
Someone also mentioned in the comment section that it happened to his vehicle as well, and he had to go for a few car washes before the cement was removed.
