On 18 Apr 2021, a 48-year-old man received his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination.
Around six hours later, the man started feeling very weak and giddy. He was then taken to the Changi General Hospital in an ambulance where the family was informed that the man had suffered a stroke.
He later suffered two more strokes and had to undergo an emergency brain operation. He survived, but his family are upset, and his sister-in-law took to Facebook recently to recount the traumatising tale.
Now, CGH has responded to the incident.
CGH Said COVID-19 Vaccine Wasn’t Responsible for Man Who Allegedly Suffered 3 Strokes After a Dose
The three strokes that the man suffered were not caused by the COVID-19 vaccine, CGH said.
In response to queries from 8WorldNews, a CGH spokesperson said that preliminary investigations found that the man’s condition was not caused by the COVID-19 jab.
The spokesperson added that they’ve attempted to reach out to the family to understand their concerns.
What Happened
According to a Facebook post by the man’s sister-in-law, the man started feeling ill not long after receiving his COVID-19 shot.
6 hours after getting jabbed on 18 Apr, the man contacted his family members saying he was feeling very weak and giddy.
The family tried to take him to the hospital themselves, but he was too weak to be moved.
So, the 48-year-old was conveyed to CGH in an ambulance.
There, the family was informed that the man had suffered a stroke and had lost his vision. It wasn’t clear if the loss was temporary or permanent.
The man’s health deteriorated after admission and he was moved to the intensive care unit that night.
Two days later, after the man underwent a CT scan, doctors informed the family that the man had suffered his third stroke and advised them to visit the man immediately.
The 48-year-old then had to go through an emergency brain operation which carried a fatality risk of 30%.
Fortunately, the man survived the procedure.
Called MOH Emergency Hotline & Reached Out to MPs
Distressed, the man’s sister-in-law called the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) COVID-19 emergency hotline hoping to get some help.
Instead, the representative asked if her brother had any underlying conditions before advising her to raise the issue with the Health Sciences Authority (HSA).
The woman also tried reaching out to MPs and said one asked for her email address, but nothing more.
She seemed upset with the fact that “nothing was done” about the incident even when she reached out.
Mounting Medical Bills
Her family now has to cope with mounting medical bills for the man’s treatment which will likely continue to rise as he has to undergo post-surgery treatment and recovery.
She wondered if the government would bear the cost of his medical treatment, considering he didn’t develop any side effects while at the facility.
In her post, the woman also questioned the safety of vaccines based on the prevailing guidelines: while the vaccine is said to be safe for those with no underlying conditions, not everyone goes for regular health checkups, and thus may not be aware of these comorbidities, she said.
The woman added that the hospital has informed MOH about the incident.
After being told that the man’s condition was not caused by the vaccine, the woman said she hoped to see a neurologist and cardiologist for a second opinion.
She also called upon the government to pay for all his brother-in-law’s medical expenses.
