Singapore Changi Airport has been crowned the world’s best airport for 2025 at the World Airport Awards ceremony held in Madrid, Spain, on 9 Apr 2025.
This achievement marks the 13th time Changi has received this prestigious recognition from London-based aviation consultancy Skytrax, setting a record in the award’s history since its inception in 2000.
The airport reclaimed the top spot from Qatar’s Hamad International Airport, which had won in 2024.

Multiple Awards Showcase Changi’s Excellence in Passenger Experience
Beyond the main title, Changi Airport secured several other notable awards, including Best Airport in Asia, Best Airport that serves 60 million to 70 million passengers, Best Airport Dining Experience, and the inaugural World’s Best Airport Washrooms award.
Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted called Changi’s achievement “great” and added: “The diversity and expansive choice of dining outlets is also recognised with Changi Airport winning the award for the World’s Best Airport Dining. With washrooms being a major driver of customer satisfaction during their airport experience, we congratulate Singapore Changi Airport on receiving the first-ever World’s Best Airport Washrooms award.”
Changi Airport Group (CAG) CEO Yam Kum Weng expressed gratitude for the recognition: “It is indeed gratifying to receive this recognition, and this certainly encourages us to continue to strive to provide the best travel experience. We thank all our passengers for their vote of confidence.”
Yam also acknowledged the contribution of the airport staff: “We’re especially grateful to the Changi Airport community, whose unwavering commitment to service excellence has made this award possible.”
These accolades make Changi the world’s most awarded airport with 697 total honors to date, according to CAG.
Strong Passenger Growth and Continuous Innovation
Changi Airport handled 67.7 million passengers in 2024, just below its record of 68.3 million set in 2019. This represents a 14.8 per cent increase from 2023, bringing passenger numbers almost on par with pre-COVID-19 levels.
Authorities expect the airport to exceed pre-pandemic passenger figures in 2025.

The airport continues to enhance its offerings, welcoming 28 new brands and concepts in 2024, including Asia’s first Heineken World Bar and Victoria’s Secret’s first beauty and lingerie concept store in Asia travel retail.
In February 2025, Changi Airport launched the Fit&Fun Zone in Terminal 2, a wellness space designed to help travelers combat travel fatigue.
Additionally, Crowne Plaza Changi Airport won the World’s Best Airport Hotel and Best Airport Hotel in Asia awards for the 10th consecutive year. The hotel is located at Changi Airport Terminal 3.
The World Airport Awards are based on a global survey conducted by Skytrax between August 2024 and February 2025.
More than 13 million airport users from over 100 countries participated in the survey, which evaluated traveler experiences across multiple indicators including check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security, and immigration.

Skytrax has stated that there was no third-party involvement or sponsorship in the survey process, and over 575 airports were featured in the results.
Survey topics included “Friendliness Of Airport Staff,” “Cleanliness Of Washrooms,” “Standard Of Airport Website,” and “Perception Of Security And Safety Standards.”
Changi Airport was the inaugural winner of the world’s best airport award when Skytrax launched its first global airport customer satisfaction survey in 1999 and held the first World Airport Awards in 2000.
The airport also holds the longest winning streak for the award, taking the top spot for eight straight years from 2013 to 2020.
In 2021 and 2022, Changi fell behind Hamad International Airport and Haneda Airport respectively, before regaining the title in 2023. It dropped to second place behind Hamad International Airport in 2024 before reclaiming the top position this year.
