Electric vehicles are touted as the next new thing for cars in Singapore as they are better for Singapore.
However, that’s if you take all the necessary precautions when using them. We have heard about how ebikes caught fire when they are left charging without oversight.
Now, the scale has been upgraded.
Electric Vehicle Allegedly Caught Fire While Being Charged in a Sentosa Cove House
Just yesterday, the car porch of a Sentosa Cove house was seen engulfed in huge flames. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the fire is suspected to have started from an electric vehicle.
In a video posted by Facebook user Admen Lim, one can see dark smoke billowing into the air as the car from which the video is being filmed from drives towards the house on fire.
Later on in the video, when the car passes the front of the house on fire, viewers can see angry red flames engulfing the front part of the Sentosa Cove house. A lady’s voice in the video can be heard in the background exclaiming, “oh my god,” and later saying, “I think it’s the car [on fire].”
Sirens are also heard blazing in the background as presumably, the firefighters rush to the scene to put out the blaze.
In the video, viewers are also treated to the view of the back of a white car engulfed in flames. As the car continues to burn before the fire is extinguished, the flames become large enough that sparks erupt from the car.
We shudder in fear to think of the cost of all the damage from the fire. Not only is a multi-million dollar house damaged in a fire (and Sentosa Cove houses are generally in the range of double-digit millions), but there is also vehicle damage to worry about.

Fire Eventually Spread to Neighbouring Porsche
Although the video only caught one car on fire, apparently, there were not only one but two vehicles affected by this blaze.
What makes things worse is that one of those cars is rumoured to be a Porsche.
According to a ST report, the fire was suspected to be started from a buggy that was being charged. The fire then, unfortunately, spread to a Porsche sports car next to it.
We sure hope the owner of the car bought car insurance. If not, think about all that money that he or she will have to burn to repair the car.
Worse still, if the car belongs to someone else. We’re sure that owner will see red as their car suffered damage due to someone else’s negligence.
While there was a whole lot of vehicle damage and probably some damage to the house, thankfully, there were no reported injuries due to the blaze.
Two people had voluntarily evacuated from the unit on fire while waiting for the firefighters to reach the scene and were spared from injuries.
Eventually, the fire was successfully extinguished with two water jets when the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel arrived and attended to the emergency.
