If You Hold a Blue or Orange CHAS Card, There Are Additional Discounts in NTUC FairPrice for 2 Months

If you hold a blue or orange Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) card, there’s good news for you. For the first 60 days of 2025, you can get an additional discount when you shop at NTUC FairPrice.

Blue and Orange CHAS Cardholders to Get 6% Discount for First 60 Days of 2025

Kiasu Singaporeans would have already known this, but earlier this month, FairPrice Group (FPG) announced that Seniors, Pioneer and Merdeka Generation individuals, and CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders, would continue to enjoy discounts at NTUC FairPrice stores and Unity outlets, until the end of 2025.

These discounts ranged between 2-3%, and the days of the week that different groups would enjoy discounts differed as well.

CHAS Blue cardholders could get 3% discounts on Thursdays, while CHAS Orange cardholders could get 3% discounts on Fridays.

But that’s not all that FPG had in store for CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders. On Monday (30 December), FPG announced that it will double its discount schemes for these two groups in the first 60 days of 2025.

That means that for the next two months, until 1 March 2025, CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders can enjoy a 6% discount instead of a 3% discount, when they shop at any NTUC FairPrice store or Unity outlet.

Specifically, CHAS Blue cardholders can enjoy a 6% discount every Thursday, while CHAS Orange cardholders can enjoy a 6% discount every Friday.

Wah, perfect for CNY! Can get additional discount on all those CNY necessities.

To “cop” your 6% discounts in the next two months, you just have to present your membership cards to cashiers when checking out your purchase.

And by “membership cards”, we mean your CHAS card. You can bring the physical one, or simply show your digital one via the Singpass app to the cashier.

Initiative Announced in Celebration of SG60, to Thank Singaporeans, and to Help Singaporeans Cope With Rising Costs

So, why is FPG suddenly announcing such an initiative? There are a few key reasons.

In case the 60-day time period of the additional discount wasn’t already a dead giveaway — the first reason for the initiative was to celebrate Singapore’s 60th birthday.

Yes, Singapore is turning 60 next year. Time truly does fly.

“The launch of our six per cent discount initiative for CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders is just the beginning of the year-long birthday celebration we have planned to mark Singapore’s diamond jubilee,” Vipul Chawla, Group CEO of FPG shared.

Wah… Perhaps in 2025, they’ll announce that NTUC will start selling discounted Labubu?

The second reason for the initiative is to thank Singaporeans for helping to raise over $1.6 million for families in need.

ICYMI, earlier in October and November, FPG ran a donation drive named “A Full Plate”. The donation drive raised over $1.6 million to provide not one, not two, but 600,000 beneficiaries with groceries and hot meals.

In other words, Singaporeans managed to help provide “a full plate” to all these beneficiaries. And FPG would like to thank Singaporeans for that, by launching the additional discount scheme.

Last, of course, the additional discount scheme for CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders is also to help them cope with rising costs.

As NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng said it best: “As Singapore celebrates SG60, NTUC remains committed to our social mission in caring for our workers and ensuring that no worker is left behind.”
