As the young woman filled out her card on a tablet, Rashid tapped her groin with the back of his hand multiple times. He also placed his hand behind her back, pushing her closer to the tablet and himself.

The ordeal lasted about 15 minutes. After completing her arrival card, the victim informed her mother about the incident, who then reported it to an officer at the checkpoint.

Legal Proceedings

Rashid pleaded guilty to one charge of using criminal force with the intent of outraging a person’s modesty.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Daniel Ong sought a sentence of four to five months’ jail, citing Rashid’s abuse of his position as a customer service officer.

For using criminal force with the intent of outraging a person’s modesty, Rashid could have faced up to three years in jail, a fine, and/or caning.
