Nine-Year-Old Dies After Father’s Violent Assault Over Game Purchases in Qingdao

A nine-year-old child in Qingdao, China has died after his father allegedly attacked him for making unauthorized purchases in mobile games.

Wang, a 35-year-old man, now faces criminal detention in connection with his son’s death on 18 May.

Police in Qingdao were alerted by Huangdao District Hospital at around 7pm on Sunday.

The hospital had reported treating an injured child who was brought in for emergency care.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Wang confronted his son at their home around 4pm after discovering unauthorized gaming expenditures.

A hospital worker posted on social media that the father had used an electric cable to repeatedly strike the boy upon learning about the top-ups.

The beating left visible injuries across the child’s body.

Child Dies Despite Emergency Treatment

Around three hours after the incident occurred, the child’s mother returned from work.

The boy told his mother he was feeling sick, which prompted an immediate trip to the medical facility.

Unfortunately, he went into sudden cardiac arrest and collapsed just outside the hospital.

Doctors worked to revive the child but their efforts proved unsuccessful. The boy had already lost vital signs by the time he reached the hospital entrance.

Emergency room physicians contacted law enforcement immediately after the child’s death was confirmed.

Local police verified that they have received the medical report, and are now conducting an active investigation into the circumstances.

Wang continues to be held in custody while authorities examine the case further.
