They decided that they would use soya sauce to “accidentally” stain the unsuspecting victim’s clothes.

Maria Margarita Alvarado Vicuna, 27, would then offer tissue paper so that the victims could clean up.

While they were distracted, her boyfriend Rodrigo Andres De La Fuente Caamano, 28 would sneak off with their valuables.

The Couple Targeted A Money Changer’s Courier On 27 Sept

On the fateful day, 27 September, they set their sights on a money changer’s courier, Mr Hasan Mohamed M. Abdul Kader, who happened to be strolling around with $51,000.

Can pay for BTO downpayment seh.

Their plans were foiled when Mr Hasan just walked away and “looked away as if nothing had happened” when his shirt was stained by the soy sauce.

Wah, they really chose the right person for the job.

Unsurprisingly, the Chileans didn’t manage to steal anything.

They were sentenced to four months jail each for attempting to steal from the 58-year-old Singaporean.

Chilean Couple Arrived On Social Visit Passes & Went To A Hawker Centre

Both of them had arrived in Singapore on 26 September. They then went to a hawker centre at around 10.30am to get two plastic bags of soya sauce from a noodle stall.

They went to The Arcade shopping centre in Collyer Quay soon after to find potential victims.

At this time, Mr Hasan placed $51,000 in a sling bag before heading off to buy foreign currencies from a nearby bank.

CCTV footage caught Caamano watching Mr Hasan closely.

What a creep.

Mr Hasan was walking to the bank at around 12.15pm when Caamano splashed soya sauce on him.

According to The Straits Times, “Maria went up to (Mr Hasan) and informed him that there was a black stain on his shirt… However, (he) ignored Maria and proceeded to walk away.”

Suspecting that something was wrong, Mr Hasan belatedly told his employer about what had happened. The police were subsequently alerted.

Police arrested the two Chileans at the People’s Park Complex near Chinatown on 28 September.

Good job SPF!
