A 56-year-old man died at Singapore General Hospital on 8 Nov 2025 after he was found lying unconscious outside his flat at Block 51 Chin Swee Road following a violent altercation in the early hours.
The Singapore Police Force received a call for assistance at around 3:10am and found the victim injured outside his unit on the 17th floor.​
Police arrested three men, aged between 36 and 59, for their suspected involvement in the case. Preliminary investigations revealed that all four individuals were involved in a dispute that escalated into a physical fight.​
Details of the Incident
The victim had been stabbed and was unconscious when paramedics transported him to Singapore General Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police have classified the case as murder and investigations are ongoing.​
The Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed that the man was conveyed to Singapore General Hospital. When The Straits Times arrived at the scene at about 1:45pm on 8 Nov, police had cordoned off flats from the 15th to the 19th floor.​
Police officers placed evidence markers next to bloodstains along the 19th-floor corridor at around 2pm. Block 51 Chin Swee Road is a Housing and Development Board rental block comprising 328 one-room flats, completed in 1973.​
Eyewitness Accounts
Resident Chua Chai Thiam, 67, who lives on the 15th floor, reported hearing a group of men shouting between 1am and 2am on 8 Nov. Mr Chua said he did not recognise anyone in the group.​
“It was quite scary. I’ve lived here for over 10 years and I have never seen anything like this before,” Mr Chua told The Straits Times.​
Violence in Singapore
This marks the sixth reported murder case in Singapore in 2025. The incident occurred barely two weeks after an Indonesian national, Salehuddin, 41, was charged with murdering his 38-year-old wife in a Chinatown hotel room on South Bridge Road on 24 Oct 2025.​
