Qi Shuoran, a 35-year-old motorcycle influencer from China’s Jilin province, died on 11 July following a highway accident.
The rider, known by her online nickname “Harley Aunt”, passed away after being hospitalised with severe head injuries.

Motorcycle Enthusiast Loses Life After Highway Collision
The accident occurred in the evening when Qi was riding her Harley-Davidson motorcycle on a highway. She lost control of her bike and hit the guardrail in a single-vehicle crash. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
Qi’s helmet was allegedly not fastened properly at the time of the accident. During the collision, her helmet came off, resulting in fatal head injuries despite emergency medical attention.
A memorial service for Qi was held on 19 July. Her death was confirmed by her riding group, the Harley Changchun Column, triggering widespread shock among fans and fellow riders.
“Harley Aunt” Built Following Through Adventurous Motorcycle Journeys
Qi was a prominent member of the Harley Changchun Column, a motorcycle enthusiast group in China. She was known online for her sunny personality and bold riding style.
Her Douyin account “骑哈雷的小姨” had accumulated more than 30,000 followers. She started riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles in 2019.
In 2024, Qi completed an ambitious 30,000km journey with a group through Tibet and the Gobi Desert.
More than 100 club members attended her farewell ceremony. The Harley Changchun Column posted tribute videos on Douyin, including footage of fellow riders participating in the farewell ceremony.
“Your brothers are here to see you off! We all saw you turn into a butterfly and fly into the sky,” read the caption on the farewell video.
The group described her as a bright light within their ranks.
As of 22 July, these videos had been removed from the group’s Douyin page.
Motorcycle Influencer Deaths Spark Safety Discussions
News of Qi’s death gained significant traction on Weibo. Many users mourned her loss at such a young age.
The incident sparked discussions about motorcycle safety practices. Online users called for riders to fasten helmets properly instead of trying to “show off”.
Qi’s death follows a series of high-profile road fatalities involving motorcycle influencers in China over the past two years. Internet celebrities including “Crazy Brother”, Zhou Junhao, Brother Tail, “Sanmaozi”, and “Brother Tou” all lost their lives in road accidents.
The tragedy has reignited conversations around motorcycle safety, particularly the critical importance of properly securing helmets before riding.
Many netizens have used the incident as a reminder to fellow riders to check all safety gear is properly fastened to prevent similar accidents.
