I am sure most of us would just stay silent and pick out the garnish by ourselves, or if you are less socially awkward, you would voice it out to the waiter or waitress for it to be redone, right?
Well, not for this 32-year-old Thai man.
He stabbed himself in the leg after discovering chives in his Pad Thai despite specifically requesting the restaurant to leave them out.
Man Leaves Trail of Blood After Pad Thai Dispute
On 5 Apr 2025, police in Chonburi Province’s Napha District responded to reports of a man causing chaos in a convenience store.
Officers arrived to find the man, identified as Thakorn, holding a 30cm knife with a bleeding wound on his left leg, according to Thai news outlet Channel 7.
The incident began when Thakorn ordered Pad Thai at a nearby restaurant and specifically requested no chives in his meal.
When the dish arrived with chives despite his clear instructions, he became frustrated and threw the food away.
The situation escalated when the vendor still demanded payment for the meal despite the mistake. This sparked a heated argument that led to Thakorn’s extreme reaction.
Upon arrival at the convenience store, police found Thakorn in a distressed state with blood trailing behind him.
The stab wound on his left leg was heavily covered in blood.
Rescue workers provided first aid to Thakorn at the scene before rushing him to Chonburi Hospital for treatment of his self-inflicted injury.
Employer Confirms No Drug Use Behind Bizarre Behaviour
Mr Thanakornpoj (name transliterated from Thai), Thakorn’s employer, told authorities that Thakorn had simply left to buy food, and he had no idea what triggered such an extreme reaction.
The employer stepped in to calm Thakorn after witnessing him shouting and waving the knife around the convenience store.
Mr Thanakornpoj emphasized that Thakorn does not take drugs, making his bizarre behaviour even more puzzling to both his employer and authorities.
Fortunately, despite Thakorn’s erratic behaviour with the knife, no one else was injured during the incident.
Police stated they will arrest the suspect and conduct a thorough investigation to determine the underlying cause of his actions.
