The images and accompanying reports speculated on her finances, suggesting she lacked support from her wealthy brother, whose net worth is estimated at HK$5.6 billion (S$95.5 million).

The widely shared photos showed the 77-year-old Chow Chung Ling appearing to doze off on a bench, dressed casually with a shopping bag beside her, in which she looked almost “homeless”.

Some media outlets inferred that her public rest was a sign of financial hardship and a lack of family support.

But Chow Chung Ling, known in Hong Kong’s photography community, quickly refuted these assumptions, stating she was simply taking a short rest while on a photography job.

The photography enthusiast explained that her professional camera, visible in the pictures, was a testament to her work rather than her financial situation.

“I’m capable of working and supporting myself,” she clarified, emphasizing that she doesn’t rely on her brother’s wealth.

Chow Chung Ling also mentioned that Chow Yun-fat had purchased homes for each of his siblings, providing financial security to the entire family.

After the photos surfaced, some social media users, observing the high-end camera she carried, voiced support for Chow Chung Ling, arguing that she wouldn’t be able to afford such equipment if she faced financial difficulties.
