It’s November and you know what that means!
Christmas is coming!
I know. It feels just like yesterday when I was decorating the house for Chinese New Year. Time passes by fast.
Honestly, as much as I would love to say that Christmas is the “most wonderful time of the year”, I’m part of that small crowd that harbours the unpopular opinion that Christmas is severely overrated.
Since my family doesn’t celebrate Christmas, there is nothing much for me to do during the festive holiday.
Nothing much except to head down to Gardens by the Bay for Christmas Wonderland!
Even if you’re not a big fan of Christmas like me, you gotta admit that the Christmas lights have the power to transport you to a different world.
Christmas Wonderland Is Back With A Parade
From 29 November to 26 December 2019, the sixth edition of the event will return with its first-ever Christmas parade.
The inaugural parade will feature three floats with Santa, Santarinas, dancing elves, penguins and snowmen will go around the fairground on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day itself.
And you can also catch the Santa and reindeer sleigh float on weekdays!
Live Your Childhood Dream
If you’re a fan of Christmas movies, you would know that familiar scene where the camera pans over to the North Pole where Santa’s elves are hard at work getting the gifts wrapped.
You can finally get the close up that you have always wanted at Christmas Wonderland’s new interactive Santa’s Workshop.
Visitors can view animatronic elves wrapping presents and fulfilling wishes on their list. And according to CNA, if you’re lucky, the man from your childhood dream, Santa Claus himself might just be around for a picture!
Be Transported To The Nordic Region
Always wanted to travel to one of those countries in the Nordic region?
This attraction at Christmas Wonderland this year might be the closest you will get if you aren’t looking to burn a huge hole in your wallet anytime soon.
Having received creative direction from the Ambassador of Denmark to Singapore, Her Excellency Dorte Bech Vizard, this year’s Poinsettia Wishes floral display at the Flower Dome will transport you to the Nordic region.
To top the “Nordic Experience” off, you can expect to experience “snow” in the tropics every evening at Blizzard Time, brought to you by Haagen-Dazs.
Something For Everyone
Alongside the 18 traditional carnival games and rides, the Meadow Theatre is slated to put up four family-friendly theatrical productions featuring a mix of international and local acts.
One of them includes circus performers from Australia’s Trash Test Dummies, London’s Snow Play and New York’s acclaimed illusionist Vitaly Beckman with Pure Wonder.
Nothing screams Christmas than a good old Christmas carolling session at the Cassa Armonica gazebo at the Supertree Grove.
You can also expect to see an adaptation of The Old Shoemaker staged by the Five Stones Theatre.
