Christopher Lee is a household name that’s almost forgotten in Singapore.
I said almost because one of the last few times you’ve seen him on Singapore television was probably his wedding day
And Chinese New Year when he buys bakkwa from Bee Cheng Hiang.
But guess what? You’re going to see him on the big screen soon.
Christopher Lee Starring in Taiwan Movie, Fall in Love At First Kiss (一吻定情)
The movie, Fall in Love at First Kiss (一吻定情), is a remake of popular Japanese manga, Itazura na Kiss, also known as It Started With a Kiss.
This popular manga has been adapted numerous times before, but this is the first time it was remade into a movie.
Yes, 90’s kids favourite drama 恶作剧之吻 was based on the manga too.
Directed By The Same Person Who Directed Our Times
Frankie Chen Yu-shan is the director who shot into fame with her 2015 movie, ‘Our Times’.
And she tackling this project with a slight twist.
Instead of a comical father, she wanted the dad of the female lead to be stylish, which was the reason she chose Lee for the role.
So expect some deviations to the character of Christopher Lee’s character, if you’re a die-hard fan.
Some Other Familiar Faces Will Be On Screen Too
So we all know Christopher Lee, but will we know the rest?
Apparently, yes, given how their movies were pretty popular among Singaporeans too.
Darren Wang will be playing the male lead role of Jiang Zhishu, a handsome and intelligent student in Class A.
He was the male lead in the popular Taiwan movie, Our Times.
And Jelly Lin will be playing Yuan Xiangqin, a girl from Class F.
She was in Stephen Chow’s movie, The Mermaid.
Christopher Lee will be playing the father of Yuan while his on-screen wife will be Hong Kong actress, Christy Chung.
The Main Reason Why He Took Up The Project
When asked why he decided to pick up the project, Lee said that he did it mainly because he wanted to work with the director, Chen.
He said that he had heard of Chen’s meticulous handling of emotional scenes.
Plus, because the movie focuses a lot on the romance between the two young people, it feels more like a fun cameo for him.
He had also wanted to work with actors like Darren Wang and Christy Chung.
When Will The Movie Be Out?
Seeing as it’s a lovey-dovey movie, you know it’s going to come out on Valentine’s Day.
And you’ll be right.
This Taiwan movie will be screening in Taiwan and China on 14 Feb 2019.
However, Singaporeans will have to wait till 28 Feb before it starts screening in Singapore cinemas.
Here’s the movie trailer to get your fix of some romance while you wait for the movie to come out.
