Remember the super hyped up milk tea drink a while back, Chun Cui He? The drink was hit by a really big setback just last year, with the milk tea flavour found to contain an unapproved food additive. It was then subsequently taken off the shelves for a few months.
People were concerned, of course, but eventually the coveted milk tea flavour returned, and everyone continued to lap it all up regardless of the considerable price tag (for a small bottle of milk tea).
It seems this trend is still going strong, as not even versions of Chun Cui He back in Taiwan are safe from Singaporeans’ thirst.
Recently, Chun Cui He released two special flavours, Rose Milk Tea and Rose Honey Milk Tea, only available in Taiwan. It wasn’t long before the Singaporean fanatics caught wind of this, and headed straight to Airfrov.
Might I remind you that these are just smallish bottles of (albeit pretty good) milk tea from Taiwan. The bottles are not even 500ml, and the standard favours already cost nearly $3 per bottle. Take a wild guess how much people are offering on Airfrov to get their hands on these limited-edition versions.
If you guessed $10, you’re way too far off. Singaporeans are not that crazy.
The average price on Airfrov is currently at $4 per bottle. Doesn’t seem too out of the ordinary at first glance, until you realise that each bottle of Chun Cui He costs roughly NTD 30 in Taiwan, which is around $1.30.
Yeah.
The thing is, people are actually offering to pay this much (read: 4 times the normal prices), with requests going from 4 bottles at $16 to 6 bottles at $24.
If you’re travelling to Taiwan anytime soon, here’s a decent opportunity to make a little bit of side cash here. Also don’t forget to grab some for yourself (or you could send it to us!).
Since you’re here, why not check out Goody Feed’s YouTube videos as well? They’re so Singaporean, I bet you’ll like them!
