Supposed you walked past a shop, with a sign at the front telling the entire world that it only cost $3 to get a haircut inside.
So you walked in, determined to tolerate whatever you came out with since it only costs as much as a bowl of noodles in a coffee shop.
Then, you walked out $199 poorer.
Now, before you think we pulled something like this out of our ass, it’s true.
And it apparently happened at Clementi.
Lady Went For $3 Haircut At Clementi Hair Salon But Was Eventually Charged $199 Instead
According to a Facebook post uploaded by a customer, Ms Hu, at a Clementi hair salon, she had originally gone in to get a haircut.
A sign outside proclaimed that they provide a $3 haircut and treatment packages from $29.
Despite her clarifying that she had only gone in for a haircut, the staff attending to her started to upsell their treatment packages.
Sounds normal, right?
Wait till you hear what happened next.
NETS Only
When Ms Hu attempted to pay via cash, the stylist who attended to her claimed that they only accept NETS.
Passing her NETS card over, she was stunned to see that the stylist entered $1,999 into the machine and tried to process the payment.
When asked why that amount was entered, the stylist claimed that it was for 10 treatment sessions, which she had not agreed to.
Thankfully, she didn’t have that much money inside the card.
Allegedly Attempted To Charge Ridiculous Amount To The Card Without Cardholder’s Permission
Now, if you’re caught trying to input an amount into the card, a normal person would desist his attempts.
But not this hair salon, Ms Hu claims.
The stylist then attempted to input $599, then $399.
The card allegedly only holds $200 within, and eventually, she was charged $19 for ‘Wash & Blow’ services.
Police Report Lodged, Lady Asks People To Be Wary Of Hidden Fees
The lady says that she has already lodged a report.
Whether the money can be recovered or not, it doesn’t matter. What she hopes to achieve with this post, she said, is to warn people about hidden fees.

Apparently, this wasn’t the first time this had happened as another woman had complained online about a similar experience back in Jun 2020.
Her father had allegedly gone to the same shop for a $3 haircut but was eventually charged $35.

What made it worse was that the haircut was uneven.
While the outcome of the report wasn’t clear, both women who made the complaints hope others will not become victims of the salon.
