22YO Club Patron Slashes 2 Others With Knife; Bouncer Pleads Guilty to Knocking Him Down With Car Thrice

Naturally, most of us tend to freeze up or wait for someone else to take action when we witness an unexpected event.

Most of the time it’s nothing too serious—a passerby falling down or someone dropping their coins everywhere.

However, in July 2019, a fight broke out along Kramat Lane, leaving two men injured.

As for one witness, he bravely took the chance to chase down the attacker but was slapped with a charge in the end.

22YO Man Stabs Two Men With Foldable Knife

On 25 July 2019, 22-year-old Shaun Koh Kim Guan was patronising Club Peaches, located in Concorde Shopping Mall along Orchard Road.

He and two other men were eventually escorted out of the club at around 4:00am by the bouncers as they were shouting at each other.

25-year-old Aaron Chua Jun Hao, who worked as a bouncer at another club called Mao, was drinking alone at Club Peaches after work. He had witnessed the dispute and followed the trio out soon after they were asked to leave.

The dispute escalated into a fight, with Koh pulling out his foldable knife and stabbing the two other men, aged 32 and 33. He immediately fled in the direction of Cavenagh Road.

Bouncers from Club Peaches, as well as another club called Club One Min, saw this unfold and began to give chase to Koh.

At that point in time, Chua also decided to join in the chase with his rental car, which was parked along Kramat Lane.

According to TODAYonline, Chua caught up to Koh and hit him from behind as he was running across the road.

When Koh got up another two times, Chua manoeuvred his car to hit him in the back, causing him to fall twice.

Eventually, the bouncers from the other clubs arrived and pinned Koh to the ground.

Koh was arrested and sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for his injuries. He had suffered tenderness over his lower back area, as well as other injuries and was given five days of hospitalisation leave.

One must wonder how well Chua drove to merely give him tenderness as an injury.

“Vigilante” Faces Jail Time; Netizens Befuddled

On Monday (12 Apr), Chua pleaded guilty to one charge of causing hurt by acting rashly.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Emily Koh sought a jail term of at least eight weeks and a driving ban of one year.

She told the court that though he was driven by a sense of “vigilante justice”, there was some premeditation in causing hurt to Koh which could not be condoned.

His actions also posed a “high degree of danger”.

As reported by The Straits Times, the three other men have been dealt with separately.

Well, I suppose that you shouldn’t bring a knife to a fistfight. Neither should you bring a car to a knife fight?

Many online comments have been in support of Chua, though some acquiesced that since Koh had already fled and was no longer a threat, Chua’s actions were considered excessive.

Some were also confused and questioned the length of the sentence, seeing that other more serious offences constituted a shorter jail time.

For causing hurt by a rash act, Chua could be jailed for up to a year, or fined up to S$5,000, or both.

He will be back in court on 30 April 2021 to hear his sentencing.
