Chinese New Year, a time of Bak Kwa, Pineapple Tarts, and Kueh Bangkits, is a festivity notorious for weight gain.
The inclination to indulge in delicious treats and the busyness of family gatherings can temporarily distract us from our New Year resolutions and give that auntie even more ammunition against you during CNY visitation.
Don’t fret. Singapore’s gyms, swimming pools, and stadiums have our backs during the CNY period, so there are no more excuses not to continue exercising.
ActiveSG Facilities and Dual-Use Scheme School Facilities
All ActiveSG facilities are closed on the first day of CNY (10 February), while the facilities are closed from 3pm onwards on the eve (9 February) and the second day of CNY (11 February).
Regular operating hours will resume on 12 February. For the Dual-Use Scheme, school facilities will be closed on 10 and 11 February.
This information is on the website, but for those who don’t go online, there are signs around the facilities:
Anytime Fitness
With around 100 Anytime Fitness Gyms in Singapore, there is an outlet everywhere you turn, proving to be convenient and reliable for any fitness buff or someone who is new to the gym.
On top of the convenience that multiple locations provide, one of the benefits of an Anytime Fitness membership is that the gym would be open 24/7, meaning that it would be open during the CNY period this year, perfect for a late night gymming session after a full day of rich CNY snacks.
For more information on Anytime Fitness, here is the link.
Gym Pod
The biggest chain of private gym pods in Singapore, The Gym Pod is also open 24/7, 365 days in a year. With more than 40 outlets in Singapore, those who are on the shyer side can easily find a location near them to exercise, away from prying eyes.
You can even invite friends along so maybe after pigging out on your friend’s mother’s delectable pineapple tarts, you can drag your friend along to exercise!

Stay Active and Healthy
We all know the allure of tasty CNY snacks can prove too much at times, but as long as we consume in moderation and stay healthy, we can continue to enjoy CNY snacks for longer.
That being said, happy snacking!
