Most of us would dislike being near the presence of cockroaches, and some cannot even stand the sight or mere mention of them.
As disgusting as they may seem, there are still people who remember that after all, they’re living creatures too.
Just like this man in Thailand, who decided to do what most people wouldn’t when they see a dying cockroach – save it.

Compassionate Act
Thanu Limpaphatthanavanic, a vet in Thailand, took to his Facebook page to share a heartwarming incident that happened at his clinic on 25 May this year.
The vet said that a man had brought a cockroach over to the clinic and asked for treatment.
There’s a lot of things that a vet can do for you and your pets, but I didn’t know that their expertise includes creepy crawlies until now.
Since owning exotic pets such as monitor lizards, hedgehogs and even snakes have become more commonplace nowadays, who knows if some may even raise cockroaches as one.
However, in the case of this Good Samaritan, the cockroach he brought wasn’t one he owned, but one he found on the roadside.
As it seemed to be injured after being trampled, he decided to bring it to the vet.
Writing that this “was not a joke,” Thanu said that this only showed compassion and pity towards every creature.
“Everyone’s life is loved… I wish there were more people like this in the world.”

50/50 Chance Of Survival
Initially, the vet thought that there was only a 50% probability that the cockroach would survive, but he still wanted to do his best for it.
Here’s the critter when it was first brought in:
The little fella was then placed in an oxygen chamber to further aid its recovery overnight, where it would be released to its caregiver (the man) when “the time was right”.
Thankfully, the cockroach beat the odds of surviving and seemed to be doing much better the next morning.

Thanu was so touched by the man’s kindness that he decided to treat the cockroach for free instead. Aww.
It’s unclear what has happened to the cockroach since or if the man has decided to officially adopt it after all they’ve been through together, but here’s to hoping they’ll both live happily.
As to whether or not you can pick up random insects and send them to the vet for treatment here in Singapore though… that still remains to be seen.
