Last month on the 27th of October, a case most foul hit the news; a 22-year-old man, Gabriel Lien Goh, was arrested for the murder of two people.
Not just any two people, though.
It was his 56-year-old mother and his 90-year-old grandmother – rightfully the two most loving and nurturing women in your life.
This was a case that shocked the nation.
So what happened?
Crazed Rampage
In case you missed the news, here’s a short summary.
On the evening of 27th October, Gabriel stabbed his mother with a knife after an intense argument.
When his domestic helper and grandmother saw the horrifying scene, they tried to escape but his grandmother was caught by him.
It was alleged that he beat his grandmother to death before heading down to the ground floor.
The residents of Block 7A Commonwealth Avenue were alerted by screams and shouts from the ground floor, where witnesses claimed that Gabriel was in an unstoppable rage.
He was aggressively confronting anyone near him and attacking anyone who tried to calm or pacify him.
Eventually, it took four people to manage to subdue him for the arrival of the police.

“I never intended for those things to happen”
Gabriel was charged with murder on 28 October for the death of his mother and on Monday (18 November) for the death of his grandmother.
During the court hearing, he apologised and said that it was an accident.
“I want to apologise to the relatives of my mum and grandma.” He said. “What happened was an accident. I had no control over my actions and I never intended for those things to happen.”
However, he did not elaborate further as to the truth behind the situation.
Currently facing a double murder charge, Gabriel could be looking at a death penalty if found guilty.
Tragedy That No One Wanted
Personally, I definitely believe him when he said that he did not intend for all of these to happen.
I mean, under normal circumstances, who would ever murder their own mother and grandmother?
This is truly a horrific tragedy where no one is happy.
Of course, many Netizens are furious over his actions, and some have even taken to his Facebook page to leave hateful comments.
But is there truly a point?
I’m not defending his actions but what’s done is done and we should move on.
Meanwhile, the truth will come to light and if Gabriel is truly guilty, he will face justice.
And hopefully, his mother and grandmother will be able to find peace.
