In Singapore, it’s not uncommon to be greeted by a stray cat when you leave your house.
These little felines have been roaming the streets of Singapore for decades, warming the hearts of residents.
Stray cats in Singapore typically look quite healthy because they are well-fed and groomed by volunteers around the city.
In fact, locals affectionately refer to them as “community cats” instead of strays, as they all hold a special place in our hearts.
Though we try our best to keep these community cats safe, some unfortunate ones end up getting into accidents.
Another Sad Footage of Community Cat Hit by Car & Writhed in Pain Emerged
A heartbreaking video of a community cat getting hit by a car has been making the rounds on social media, saddening netizens.
The video was shared on SG Road Vigilante’s YouTube channel.
According to the video’s description, the accident took place on 30 January, at 10.53am. Footage of the incident was taken from the dashboard camera of another car.
The accident appears to have occurred near a private residential estate.
At the beginning of the video, a couple of Javan mynas can be seen on the road.
They then fly away as a dark-coloured cat emerges from a gap in a condominium’s perimeter wall.
As the birds fly away, the dark-coloured cat chases them and ends up on the road.
At that very moment, an oncoming Toyota Prius suddenly hits the cat. The cat darts back onto the pavement, bounces off the wall, and then writhes around in pain on the grass, before collapsing on the side of the road.
Another cat, which followed it out of the condominium and narrowly escaped getting hit as well, simply stood beside its fellow feline and stared at it.
Cat Succumbed to Injuries
The car did stop briefly after hitting the cat, but it’s unknown if the driver got out of his vehicle to check on the injured animal.
The netizen who submitted the video to SG Road Vigilante claimed that they drove off after the accident.
The netizen also confirmed that the poor cat succumbed to her injuries on the road shortly after the accident.
It has since been cremated.
According to the netizen, the car plate number of the Prius has been identified and a report has been lodged with the Traffic Police.

Second Fatal Cat Accident in a Few Days
Another similar accident took place just two days earlier, on 28 Jan along Koon Seng Road.
While both videos are distressing, this one is much harder to watch. Viewer discretion is advised.Â
Also taken from another car’s dashcam, the video shows a Honda Vezel running over a light-coloured cat on a zebra-crossing.
The cat flops around violently with pain for a good 30 seconds or so before coming to a stop.
The car appears to have driven off.
