What comes to your mind when you think of convicts?
Unsavoury, selfish sorts who would rather mooch off others rather than work honestly for their wages?
Despite the government’s efforts in helping to reintegrate convicts into society, like the Yellow Ribbon project, we’d always have that niggling thought in our minds.

Did they truly reform? Can I really trust them?
But this story is going to show you a different side of convicts and prove that just like us, they’re people too.
Father Accidentally Locked One-Year-Old Daughter in Car
According to CNN, the father had strapped his baby girl into the car seat and tossed his keys into the front seat.

Unfortunately, he forgot that the key wasn’t with him and closed the back door.
To his horror, he realised that the car doors were locked and his baby girl was trapped inside.
His wife was with him at the time of the incident.
Inmates Rushed To Help After Hearing Distressed Cries
5 prison inmates and their supervising police officers were repairing medians nearby when they heard the couple’s cries for help.
The couple was unable to afford a locksmith, which was when the police officers decided to allow the convicts to use their criminal skills to help out.

They worked together to pick the car door with a clothes hanger.
The whole process took about 5 minutes and thankfully, the baby girl was not harmed during her stay in the car.
They’re Just People Who Made Bad Choices
Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said that the inmate was allowed to use his lock-picking skills as it was a unique situation, and he was doing it for the right reason.
It was added that criminals out there who want to attack and fight (the public) belongs to the minority.
The majority of criminals out there are simply individuals who have made bad choices in life.

And now, they simply want to do the right thing.

They Just Want To Live RightÂ
When someone comes out of prison, they have a few challenges ahead of them.
They need to be reintegrated back into society and learn new technology.

And they need to find a job, which is made doubly hard by their checkered past, to support their family honestly.
If they aren’t able to do that, they might be forced back into a life of crime because they have no other choice.
Which is why the Yellow Ribbon Project exists.
This project aims to help ex-convicts reintegrate back into society, find a job and start rebuilding their lives the right way.
