SBS drama Doctors is the latest Korean TV series that your friends who are Kdrama fans would be talking about nowadays. It’s a 2016 drama starring Park Shin Hye and Kim Rae Won, airing every Mondays and Tuesdays from 20th June. Doctors is currently the trending drama now and it’s sometimes compared to the very hot drama Descendants of the Sun. Could it be the next DOTs without our beloved Song Joong Ki?

An epic love story is bound to happen
Yoo Hye Jeong (Park Shin Hye) and Hong Ki Hong (Kim Rae Won) play the main leads in Doctors, and as the name suggests, they are neurosurgery doctors. Hye Jeong had a tough childhood and hence developed a prickly personality. She kept her heart closed towards others and was a hopeless delinquent. But after meeting her teacher Hong Ji Hong, she transformed into a compassionate person. They reunite again after 13 years of parting when she becomes a doctor. And what’s a Kdrama without an epic love story right?

About saving lives
As you’d imagine, they’ll spend most of their time in the hospital. It’s not only a romantic series, but it also shows their compassion in saving lives. DOTs was not only popular because of the cast, but also the plot as it was intriguing to watch doctors and the army come together to help protect people and save lives. That’s a pretty noble and significant thing. Doctors’ hotheaded heroine Hye Jeong is somewhat similar to our righteous heroine from DOTS, Doctor Kang Mo Yeon.

Top ratings so far
Doctors topped the ratings for Mondays-Tuesdays drama and subsequently increased in ratings even though there were only 4 episodes aired. They have managed to beat other current on-air dramas and the latest episode had surpassed the 15 percent mark. This sounds like DOTs, which was so popular and gained much popularity worldwide.

Starring popular and good-looking main leads
Just like DOTs which starred such good-looking actors, Doctors’ main leads Park Shin Hye is well-known for many other great shows and her cute angelic looking face. Kim Rae Won rose to fame in 2003  romantic comedy series Rooftop Room Cat, and is also known for his other leading roles such as Love Story in Harvard and A Thousand Days’ Promise.

The main lead can fight – really well
Park Shin Hye would be the heroine who can fight really well in the show since Hye Jeong used to be somewhat of a delinquent. There are several scenes which she fought like a super cool rock star, and there’s even one which she fought all the gangsters at the hospital for stopping her from saving someone’s life. This definitely reminds us of Song Joong Ki and Jin Goo in DOTS: Both dramas had their main leads beating gangsters to a pup. And the fact that Park Shin Hye’s character used to be a delinquent transformed to a compassionate career sure sounds like Jin Goo’s character, Sergeant Major Seo in DOTS.

Action scenes
With fighting scenes come many other epic action stuff. You can expect more fighting and surgery scenes in a doctor-themed show, similar to that of DOTs. There were many parody videos of people mimicking Song Joong Ki’s very cool handphone scene from DOTS, and who knows if there would be other parodies of “cool scenes” from Doctors as well?

Cutie Kim Min Seok is in Doctors too
Remember the delinquent-turned-private(then finally Sergeant) Kim Ki Bum in DOTS? He’s like a rising star now, and also starring in Doctors as a fellow neurosurgeon in love with Hye Jeong (Park Shin Hye). He’s funny and cute, so expect his scenes to be really hilarious in Doctors.

Are you excited to watch Doctors yet? We bet you do.
