Picture this:
You sent your beloved pet to the groomer’s for a quick session and expected to have the adorable critter back in one piece. The next thing you know, however, chaos erupted:
Your dog’s at the vet because the groomer had accidentally snipped off a little bit of its tongue.
Frantic, you rush down to the location, where your dog now greets you with a permanently shorter tongue. Livid, you ask for answers, but the groomer chose to blame one thing:
Your dog’s hyperactiveness. Or in other words…
It’s your dog’s fault, bitch.
Angry? Well, everyone will probably feel a rush of blood here and there. But the question begets;
Just how far would you go in order to secure justification for your dog?
Because for this real-life owner, that justification is no less than a lifetime supply of dog food…
And SGD$22,000.
Couple Allegedly Asked For $22k As Compensation After Groomer Accidentally Cut Dog’s Tongue
It all started with a Facebook post.
Uploaded to the social media platform yesterday (6th August), a dog owner from Singapore voiced his outrage online, over how his pet dog was treated when it was sent for grooming.
According to the user’s post, the owner’s toy poodle, Mario, was picked up by a grooming service called Pawschukang on 7th June at 10:00 a.m. for his first grooming session with them.
Later that day, however, the owners received a phone call from the business’ owner, with some rather bad news on the way.
Nichelle, the owner of Pawschukang, told them that an accident has happened and they “slit” their dog’s tongue.
Because she sounded really calm, they thought nothing of it and arranged to meet at a nearby vet.
When they arrived, they were horrified to hear that a part of his tongue was accidentally cut away.
And to add salt to the wound, they heard Nichelle blaming the dog for being too active.
But that’s not all.
Negligence
Apparently, Mario’s tongue could have been saved.
The vet allegedly told the owners that if the groomers had rushed Mario to the clinic earlier, the vet would’ve been able to save his tongue.
But because of the “estimated few hours” worth of inaction, Mario’s tongue had to be “amputated”.
Mario had a painful time during recovery and need to learn how to lick up his food and water with a shorter tongue.
While the grooming service has since reimbursed the owners with the veterinary fees, the post claims they did not fulfil their promises to fire the groomer responsible.
Also, they alleged that the groomers also promised compensation in the form of lifetime supplies of food, supplements and grooming, but while they briefly contemplated donating it to animal charities, they ultimately decided to forego the compensation as they felt it was insincere.

But here’s the thing; is there more than meets the eye?
The following day, the owner of Pawschukang responded in kind, with a Facebook post that denies some of the allegations from the dog owners’ post. And apparently…
The groomer responsible for the whole fiasco is no longer working with them too.
Sharing a rough timeline of what went down, the owner indicated there were an estimated 30 minutes between the time of Mario’s injury and when it was taken to the vet.
Also, their text exchange revealed that the grooming service had offered monetary compensation a few times, but Mario’s owner refused to accept it.
And apparently, it was not the owner of Pawschukang who initiated a lifetime supply of dog food and SGD$22,000 as compensation, but the owners of Mario.
Well, there goes another twist in the tale.
But hold your horses; it’s still not done!
Thereafter, the owner of Mario created another post in response, and he denied their claims. Adding that there was no CCTV evidence to support the ‘timeline’, he also included an apology from the groomer who snipped off Mario’s tongue.

Suffice it to say; the entire saga has drawn quite a lot of debate online. And as you might’ve surmised, there’re the supporting and opposition parties, each clamouring for what they believe in.
Though in the end, it’s really only the people involved, who know the exact details about everything that has transpired.
On a side note, which party are you rooting for? And has your pet experienced such issues before?
