Weddings are not easy to plan and a lot of thought has to go into it. After all, you’re forking out thousands of dollars.
One of the most mind wrecking part of planning a wedding is choosing a bridal studio because there are soo many bridal studios with beautiful outfits to pick from.
When couples finally settle on one, they’ve probably only done so after doing research and poring over countless beautiful bridal gowns and studios.
One of which was the very beautiful “Beautiful Love Wedding”. Unfortunately, the outcome of choosing this particular bridal studio did not turn out so beautiful.
Couples Lose $103K After S’pore Bridal Company ‘Beautiful Love Wedding’ Abruptly Closes
Couples who had the (dis)pleasure of signing wedding packages with a Singapore bridal studio named Beautiful Love Wedding were left in the dust when it abruptly closed on Monday, 9 December.
Honestly, that’s every bride- and groom-to-be’s worse nightmare.
The affected customers took to social media to share how they can no longer contact the studio. Beautiful Love Wedding bridal studio was located at Joo Chiat Road.
The Consumer Association of Singapore (CASE) told CNA that they have received 34 complaints that were made against the studio.
CASE executive director Loy York Jiun said, “In general, consumers complained that the company has failed to honour their wedding packages, which were paid in full or partially, and that they had not been able to contact the company.”
The amount of money that was lost by couples amounted to a whopping $103,000 which were paid by the couples in the form of prepayments.
CASE has since tried to contact the studio to get to the bottom of the incident.
Founder of Beautiful Love Wedding Responds
The founder of the bridal studio, Nigel Lee has since responded, saying that he was forced to close the studio “due to increasing cost”.
He reassures though that their customers will be refunded:
“Despite the closure our customers is still our priority and what we owe we will repay. We will be contactable throughout the period with regards to our existing customers packages,” he said.
What’s most suspicious is the fact that the bridal studio was still signing packages just two weeks before it suddenly closed.
Mr Lee explained that this was because he thought that they could still make enough money to carry on the business.
Apparently not.
One netizen also commented on their Facebook page saying that they were ignored when they tried to contact the studio.
To give them some credit, they did reject customers who wanted to sign packages with them over the weekend and last Wednesday…
However, there is at least one couple who are having their wedding on 22 December 2019. That’s in just 11 days. Just imagine if the bridal studio you signed with shuts 11 days before your big day.
Insists That They Can Be Contacted
Mr Lee also denied that his team could not be contacted and added that his staff were “trying their best to help customers”.
There is a notice posted on the bridal studio’s door stating that the studio owes $16,280 in rent and outstanding late payment interest.
What makes matters worse is that the payments were due since September.
We truly hope that those who were affected can get their money back.
