Many of us younger folk have this belief that we’re immune to the coronavirus, as it appears to be more deadly for older people who get infected.
This belief would seem to be supported by the facts; after all, most of the COVID-19 patients who require intensive care or oxygen supplementation are above the age of 60.
But as we’ve seen in other countries, no one is safe from COVID-19.
Young adults can also succumb to the virus, and sadly that’s what happened to a seaman here on Sunday.

He was conveyed to Singapore General Hospital that day and confirmed to be infected with COVID-19. He passed away the next day.

107,730 doses of Sinovac Vaccines Administered; Those Allergic to MRNA Vaccine Invited to Take Sinovac Jabs
As of Sunday (1 Aug), 62% of our population have been vaccinated with an mRNA vaccine.
In addition, 107,730 doses of Sinovac vaccines have been administered, covering 74,935 people.
The authorities have invited those who suffered allergic reactions to their first dose of an mRNA vaccine to take the Sinovac vaccine.
Once they receive two Sinovac shots, they will be considered fully vaccinated.
Considering their history of allergy, vaccination must be done at a public hospital, where staff can monitor them closely.
What’s more, those who have chosen the Moderna vaccine need not make an appointment any longer. Simply walk into any of the 11 centres offering Moderna’s vaccine to get your shot.
