The authorities have been warning us about the potential of a spike in imported cases, and today, the spike has occurred.
There are 12 new COVID-19 cases today, and like a déjà vu back to January and early February, many of them are imported case.
It’s quite clear now that the global trend is affecting us.
Here’s today’s announcement.
12 New COVID-19 Cases in S’pore Today (11 Mar); 3 Are RSAF Servicemen Who Were in France for Training
3 of the newly imported cases are servicemen who had been in France from 15 February 2020 to 7 March 2020 for training. They are a 40-year-old Singaporean, a 31-year-old Singaporean and a 44-year-old Singaporean.
It’s also revealed that an imported case mentioned yesterday, who was in France, was also a RSAF serviceman.
The other imported cases are:
- A 37-year-old male Filipino who works in Singapore, and had been in the Philippines
- A 35-year-old female Filipino who works in Singapore, and had been in the Philippines. She is a staff nurse in Ng Teng Fong General Hospital
- A 56-year-old Indonesian who came to Singapore on 9 March
- A 27-year-old Singaporean who had been to France from 25 Feb to 1 March, and Spain from 1 March to 6 March
- A 42-year-old female Filipino who works in Singapore, and had been in the Philippines
- A 37-year-old British national who had been to Japan and UK
- A 26-year-old Singaporean who had been to the US, UK and France
As for the remaining 2 cases, they are a 47-year-old male Singaporean whose source of infection is unknown yet, and a 67-year-old female Singaporean who is linked to the SAFRA Jurong Cluster.
Updates on Current Cases
All in all, the total number of cases is now at 177.
96 patients have fully recovered and are discharged. The good news is that the number of people in ICU has dropped to 9, compared to 12 yesterday. The conditions of the remaining patients are either stable or improving.
As of noon today, MOH has identified 4,218 close contacts who have been quarantined. Of these, 981 are currently quarantined, and 3,237 have completed their quarantine.
