233 New COVID-19 Cases in S’pore on 12 Apr; 7 New Clusters Found Including a Restaurant

Today’s (or should I say yesterday’s?) announcement came so late, I won’t blame you if you think there are 8,888 new COVID-19 cases on 12 April 2020.

After all, we got to know that 5 McDonald’s employees were infected; that’s rather bad, isn’t it?

However, thank goodness there are 233 cases instead.

And just like previous days, most of the cases are people residing in dormitories, work sites and other living quarters.

Here’s today – I mean, yesterday’s (12 April 2020) report.

233 New COVID-19 Cases in S’pore on 12 Apr; 7 New Clusters Found

Out of the 233 new cases, 167 are still unlinked and pending contact tracing. Of this, 141 are work permit holders, mostly residing in dormitories, work sites and other living quarters.

Of the remaining 66 cases, 51 are linked to known clusters while 15 are linked to previously confirmed cases.

7 new clusters are also found.

  • Acacia Lodge at Blk 530 – 540 with 15 cases (3 new cases and 12 previously confirmed cases)
  • Tuas View Dormitory with 8 cases (2 new cases and 6 previously confirmed cases)
  • 36 Woodlands Industrial Park E1 with 20 cases (all previously confirmed cases)
  • 85 Kallang Dormitory with 5 cases (all previously confirmed cases)
  • Black Tap (a restaurant) at 10 Bayfront Avenue with 8 cases (all previously confirmed cases)
  • Kenyon / UBS Construction Site at 9 Penang Road with 8 cases (all previously confirmed cases)
  • McDonald’s cluster with 4 cases (1 new case with 3 previously confirmed cases; to understand why it’s 4 cases instead of 5 cases, read this article)

Also, the S11 Dormitory @ Punggol has an additional 30 new cases, which means the cluster now has 365 confirmed cases.

Updates on Confirmed Cases

As of today, we now have a total of 2,532 cases.

560 patients have fully recovered and have been discharged while 31 are in ICU. 8 have unfortunately passed away due to complications caused by COVID-19 infection.

The conditions of the remaining patients are stable or improving, and of this group, 988 of them who are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
