The number certainly looks scary, but read this: 280 of them are linked to dormitories or known clusters, and 64 are work permit holders who could have been linked to dormitories.
Of the total, 30 are Singaporeans, Singapore PR, S Pass Holders or Long Term Visit Pass Holders.
In other words, a majority of the cases are from dormitories, and one of them now have a staggering 586 cases.

Record High of 386 New COVID-19 Cases in S’pore on 13 Apr; One Dormitory Now Has 586 Cases
As mentioned, 94 of the new cases are unlinked, though you can bet that they’d be linked soon; in the past week, MOH has uncovered links for 316 previously unlinked cases.
Of the remaining cases, 280 are linked to known clusters, with a majority of them from dormitory clusters. 12 cases are linked to previously confirmed cases.

3 new clusters are also found. They are
- CitiWall (a company) at 34 Kaki Bukit Crescent with 6 cases (all previously confirmed cases)
- ABC Hostel (not a dormitory) at 3 Jalan Kubor with 7 cases (1 new case and 6 previously confirmed cases)
- Tech Park Crescent Dormitory at 43 Tech Park Crescent (1 new case and 8 previously confirmed cases)
It’s also now confirmed that the S11 Dormitory @ Punggol cluster has 586 cases.
One More Fatality
There is also one fatality today; it is a 65-year-old Singaporean who passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection this afternoon.
The man was confirmed to have the virus on 9 April 2020.
Updates on Confirmed Cases
In total, we now have 2,918 cases.
586 of them have fully recovered and are discharged, while 29 are now in ICU. Including the fatality reported today, 9 people have passed away from complications due to COVID-19.
The conditions of the remaining patients are stable or improving. Of this group, 1,165 of them who are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
As of noon today, MOH has identified 28,333 close contacts who have been quarantined. Of these, 11,583 are currently quarantined, and 16,750 have completed their quarantine.
