Today is the day that the total number of new cases reported in a day is more than 20.
And unfortunately, despite 17 of them being imported, 4 cases’ source of infections are unknown yet.

23 New COVID-19 Cases in S’pore Today (17 Mar); 17 Are Imported
Out of the whopping 23 new cases, 17 are imported.
They are
- A 53-year-old male Singaporean who had been to Germany and Italy
- A 39-year-old male Canadian who had been to Japan from 23 Feb to 7 March
- A 41-year-old male Singaporean who had been to the UK and France
- A 42-year-old male Singapore PR who had been to the US from 4 March to 16 March
- A 28-year-old British national who works in Singapore and had been to the UK and Austria
- A 24-year-old male Singaporean who had been to Spain from 12 Feb to 16 March
- A 43-year-old female Singapore PR who had been to France from 22 Feb to 13 March
- A 44-year-old male Swedish national who works in Singapore and had been to Norway, Denmark and Sweden
- A 19-year-old male French national who lives in Singapore and had been to the UK from 16 Oct 2019 to 14 March this year
- A 47-year-old male Indian national who had been to Europe from 9 Feb to 15 March
- A 30-year-old female Singaporean who had been to the Philippines from 7 March to 9 March
- A 30-year-old male American who works in Singapore, and had been to the US from 23 Feb to 9 March
- A 20-year-old female Indonesian who had been to the UK from late January to 16 March
- A 52-year-old female Singaporean who had been to Spain and Portugal
- A 41-year-old female Indonesian who came to Singapore on 16 March
- A 25-year-old female Singaporean who had been to the UK from 6 March to 14 March
- A 63-year-old male Singaporean who had been to Spain and Portugal
That’s a handful, isn’t it?
2 of the new cases reported today are linked to previously confirmed cases: they are a 59-year-old Singaporean who’s linked to Case 186 (a family member) and a 32-year-old Filipino who is linked to Case 205.
There are 4 cases in which the source of infection is unknown (yet):
- A 76-year-old male Singaporean
- A 23-year-old female Malaysian who works in Singapore
- A 66-year-old male Singaporean who was in Malaysia between 25 Feb to 29 Feb
- A 48-year-old female Singapore PR
Updates on Confirmed Cases
All in all, Singapore now has 266 cases.
Out of all the cases, 114 of them have fully recovered and are discharged. 14 are in ICU.
As of noon today, MOH has identified 5,939 close contacts who have been quarantined. Of these, 2,062 are currently quarantined, and 3,877 have completed their quarantine.
