COVID-19 Updates Singapore (3 Mar): 2 New Cases with 1 of Unknown Source Yet

With COVID-19 cases spiking globally, it’s good to learn that Singapore’s cases are still gradually increasing.

Today, three new countries were included in the list of travel restrictions to Singapore in an attempt to contain the virus, though the authorities have warned that there might be an influx of cases soon due to the global trend.

Well, the spike isn’t coming today.

2 New COVID-19 Cases in S’pore Today (3 Mar); 1 is Of Unknown Source Yet

Today, there are two new cases.

The first patient is a 70-year-old Singaporean who has not been to any of the affected countries. He had his symptoms on 25 February 2020, and had gone to a GP on 27 February 2020 and 28 February 2020. He was then isolated in Singapore General Hospital on 29 February 2020, and was tested positive yesterday afternoon.

Although he works in Fish Mart Sakuraya at West Coast Road, he had not served any customers or handled any food.

The second patient is a 33-year-old Singaporean who is linked to the Wizlearn Technologies cluster. He is currently warded in NCID.

So far, the Wizlearn Technologies cluster has become one of the larger local clusters, with a total of 14 confirmed cases linked to it.

Updates on Confirmed Cases

In total, there are now 110 confirmed cases in Singapore.

78 of them have recovered and have been discharged, while 7 of them are in ICU—an increase from 6 yesterday.

The conditions of the remaining patients are stable or improving.

As of noon today, MOH has identified 3,173 close contacts who have been quarantined. Of these, 336 are currently quarantined, and 2,837 have completed their quarantine.

And lest you didn’t know, the number of countries with travel restrictions in Singapore has increased. Here’s a list for your easy reference:

  • China
  • Iran
  • Northern Italy
  • South Korea

Other than these, Singaporeans are also advised to defer non-essential travel to Japan.
