Today’s the second day of the Circuit Breaker measures, and the first day that schools are closed for Home-Based Learning.
And unfortunately, it’s also the day whereby we broke the daily record as well, with a staggering 142 cases reported in a day.
What’s worse is that there’s one more death and he’s only 32 years old, though it’s unknown if he had died due to COVID-19 infection.

Record-High of 142 New COVID-19 Cases in S’pore Today (8 Apr)
142 cases were reported today. 2 are imported.
72 of them are currently still unlinked and pending contact tracing.
The other 68 cases are linked to clusters or other cases, with 55 of them linked to clusters and 13 of them to other confirmed cases.
And many of them are linked to clusters in dormitories.
As of now, the S11 Dormitory @ Punggol has the highest number of cases with 115 confirmed cases, followed by Westlite Toh Guan dormitory which has 38 confirmed cases.
In addition, the Mustafa Centre cluster now has 50 cases.
There is one patient from the public healthcare sector today: he’s a 31-year-old Indian national who works in Ng Teng Fong General Hospital as a technician.

Another Death
Today, a man has died, and it’s unknown if he had passed away due to COVID-19 infection.
He is a 32-year-old Indian national who works in Singapore, and had a test for COVID-19 yesterday. He also had a chest X-ray which showed that he did not have pneumonia.
He was told to stay in his residence as the results are still pending, and today, he was confirmed to have COVID-19 but by then, he had passed way. It’s therefore unknown if his death is linked to COVID-19 and investigations are ongoing.
His source is infection is currently unknown yet.
Updates on Confirmed Cases
We now have 1,623 cases in Singapore.

406 patients have fully recovered and are discharged, while 29 are in ICU. 6 have passed away due to complications from COVID-19 infection; the other patient who passed away today might or might not have died due to COVID-19.
The conditions of the remaining patients are either stable or improving. Of this group, 542 of them who are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19 are isolated and cared for at Concord International Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital, Mount Alvernia Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and the Community Isolation Facility at D’Resort NTUC.
As of noon today, MOH has identified 19,444 close contacts who have been quarantined. Of these, 5,665 are currently quarantined, and 13,779 have completed their quarantine.
