If you’ve read this article that explained what happened in the SAFRA Jurong cluster during that fateful private dinner, you’d not be surprised at today’s announcement.

A total of 12 new COVID-19 cases were reported today, and 9 of them are unsurprisingly from the SAFRA Jurong Cluster.

Here’s today’s announcement:

12 New COVID-19 Cases in S’pore Today (8 Mar): 9 More from SAFRA Jurong Cluster

Out of the 12 new cases, 9 are linked to the private dinner (i.e. singing group Chinese New Year celebration) held in SAFRA Jurong on 15 February 2020

They are as follow:

  • 71-year-old male Singaporean
  • 62-year-old female Singaporean
  • 26-year-old male Singaporean
  • 58-year-old female Singaporean
  • 67-year-old female Singaporean
  • 64-year-old female Singaporean
  • 67-year-old female Singapore (who had also been to Indonesia before the dinner, but is not involved in the dinner)
  • 62-year-old male Singaporean
  • 53-year-old female Singaporean

Do note that not all of them have been in the dinner—some were close contact with previously confirmed cases who were in the dinner.

Most of them stayed in the “new Jurong West”—the Jurong West that’s nearer to Pioneer than Jurong East.

The 10th patient is a 69-year-old male Singaporean who had his first symptoms on 1 March 2020, and had visited a GP on 3 March and 6 March, whereby he was taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. His source of infection is unknown yet, and he works as a cleaner in NTU.

The 11th patient is a 42-year-old Singapore PR who’s linked to Case 132. He had been to Thailand from 4 March to 6 March, and was immediately sent to National University Hospital after he landed on Changi Airport.

The last patient is an imported case from Indonesia: the 64-year-old Indonesian national had arrived in Singapore yesterday and was tested positive for the virus this morning.

Updates on Confirmed Cases

With this, the total number of confirmed cases is now at 150.

Out of all the confirmed cases, 90 of them have fully recovered and are discharged. Unfortunately, 9 people are now in ICU; an increase from 8 yesterday. The conditions of the remaining patients are stable or improving.

As of noon today, MOH has identified 3,649 close contacts who have been quarantined. Of these, 615 are currently quarantined (a big jump from yesterday’s 446), and 3,034 have completed their quarantine.
