Man Forged COVID-19 Vaccination Papers Just to Dine In At an Orchard Eatery

With the current COVID-19 restrictions where only those who are vaccinated are able to dine in restaurants, many have been trying to get vaccinated. After all, it’s been long since we’ve been allowed to eat in a group of five right?

So how far would you go just to be able to eat a meal outside?

Get vaccinated? Nah.

Maybe consider breaking the law just to be able to do that?

Well apparently, this 30-year-old man decided that having a meal outside was much more important than being truthful about his vaccination status, even if it meant putting himself and others in danger, as well as causing the restaurant to be fined or even closed down if it was discovered by safe distancing ambassadors.

On 1 September, the man decided that he wanted to eat at a restaurant in Orchard Road.

Knowing that his vaccination status would not allow him to do so, he allegedly forged a digital copy of a doctor’s note that states otherwise.

He then went ahead to the restaurant hoping that his plan would work.

After showing the service staff at the restaurant his forged memo, they immediately felt that something was off, and suspected that he had done something with it, aka he wasn’t being truthful.

Their instincts were right.

They denied him entry and even called the police to file a report.

He Will Be Charged

Police officers from the Tanglin Police Division conducted investigations and eventually arrested the man on 14 September.

The police released a statement saying: “The police will not hesitate to take action against anyone who does not comply with the COVID-19 safe management measures or blatantly disregards our laws. Let us all do our part to curb the spread of COVID-19.”

As such, the man will be charged with forgery. If convicted, he will receive a jail sentence of four years and also be fined.
